Tribute Band Suggestions

Hey everyone!

I was hoping I could get some advice on my new start up. In my downtime from singing, I've been exploring the idea of an agency dedicated solely to tribute acts in the US. I've learned a lot from working with some of the best people in the business, about how to do things, and about how definitely NOT to do things, and I am pretty confident I can use my experience and ability to work with other acts in a lot of the same capacity that I have with Frontiers.

That being said, I'm interested in hearing who some of the acts (not looking for names of tribute bands, but the actual artists themselves) that would interest the average regular joe if they were playing at a local concert series or had a show at a local music theatre/concert hall. Some of the ideas I've had have been Led Zep, Commodores, Pink Floyd, U2, Rolling Stones, etc. Anyone have any creative ideas out there that I may be overlooking?

Thanks!

I'm in a tribute band to the Banana Splits. I'll sign up.

I'm not sure how "a-peeling" that would be in the States, mate, yuk yuk yuk....

I think I'm going to start a rockin' tribute to the music of Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond though and call it Cherry Manilow. Like with AOR type arrangements of the songs. That would be killer.

Good one.

Also, one time I was over in Idaho and they had a band that sounded just like Earth Wind & Fire.

KC and the Sunshine band also gets a nod from me. Their songs usually get people pumping,
as does Average White Band.

Maybe some of that kind of music is horn heavy......maybe not.

Yeah but isn't there enough Beatle tribute bands already?

A good classic Chicago trubute band would be good for a nice horn section.

Any appeal for a Petty tribute show? Pretty iconic guy and tons of hits.
