Just saw Andrew's tweet about this. The lead singer from Crimson Glory is taking over. Maybe they won't suck quite as badly now.

So it's official? The Rising West guy IS the new QR vocalist? Did Geoff leave of his own accord?

He got shit-canned. But they haven't been the same since Chris DeGarmo left the band.

So glad I saw them at M3, then. I guess that was their 2nd to last performance together? Moral of the story - don't threaten your band mates with a knife!

Not much of a fan. Saying that though, I looooved his haunting vocals on Silent Lucidity. One of my faves.

No doubt that, in his prime, he was one of the best vocalists I've ever heard, i.e. range, tone, etc. I think he turned into a cocky prima donna, though, and recent actions against bandmates certainly didn't help.

I've been wondering if he's been dipping into the wine a lot lately.

Todd La Torre can definitely cover cover the Queensryche catalog! He sounds pretty solid!

Crap...If the dude can cover "Queen of the Reich" like that, he can do ANY QR song.

This is part of their plan. Break up....get back together in 10 years WITH DeGarmo and cash in. The Crue managed and look at them today.
Why should they have 4 original members when most bands have 2-3 tops and still call themselves the band?
And, I've been a fan of Queensryche since the late 80's, so I'm not taking sides. Let Geoff do his weird shit (which I would put Dedicated to Chaos in that boat-what a waste of a CD tray) and the guys will play all their old metal stuff fans dig. I'd pay to see that for sure.

Haven't followed anything of theirs since the 80s. How does he sound vocally nowadays? Although a good part of that song being a fave is his vocal, there is just something subtly beautiful about the musciality of the song too.
I don't expect a vocalist to have quite the same ability as they age. But the one downfall to loving some of my favorite raspy rock vocals of the 80s, is, they for the most part can only go one of two ways. That rasp can turn into a nice raw soulful sound or can go screechy almost like a chipmunk. I just loved Tesla and those raspy vocals of Jeff Keith's back in the day.......

But for the most part, the clips I've heard lately, vocally he just doesn't do it for me anymore. Where as Eric Martin still sounds
great. I guess I'd have to see Tesla live to say either way, and given the chance I would definitely catch a Tesla show even if Jeff's vocals aren't as good, cuz I'm pretty sure those Tesla songs would stilll rock my socks off.

Geoff has been on record that he doesn't like metal. And you're right, "Addicted to Chaos" isn't fit to be even a beer coaster.

He certainly can't come anywhere near the stratospheric high notes he hit on their early stuff, particularly prior to "Empire". His voice isn't bad now but he just doesn't sound right on the older stuff, which is what the majority of their fans want to hear. He hasn't really ruined his voice like some of the classic rock and hair metal band singers, but it's certainly a lot different. He still sounds fantastic when he sings in his lower registers, though. I've always thought that's really what made his voice unique in the first place.

That was excellent AND the way it should be sung, with no histrionics.

Dumb question... Who is opening now for the Scorpions in the US on the dates that Queensryche was schedule to open? Is it still Tate solo? Curious, because I have tickets to their show at PNC in Jersey. Only going to see the Scorps, but thought I'd ask.

I saw QR about 4 years ago in NYC and Geoff's voice was incredible. Geoff was dressed well, looked fit, still had his hair in a ponytail, and didn't have the goatee... He looked fantastic! He looked quite happy to be there and performed the songs (which didn't contain many newer songs either) absolutely stunningly.
I don't know what the Hell happened to him these last few years, but he is definitely not at the top of his game, doesn't seem to care, and has a disturbing crazy look in his eyes.

I'm not sure if there are any other interviews Geoff gave yet, other than Rolling Stone's, but it was interesting to hear his side. We'll only ever heard a portion of the truth, but what gets me about most of these bands (grown men, I am referring to, not 18-24 year olds on the Sunset Strip trying to make it) is that they can't sit down man to man and hash stuff out? How many of us need to do that on a daily basis with our jobs? It's amusing how he writes the stuff, the band tours, and then they get displeased. Were they displeased collecting the checks from the hard earned cash the fans shell out? Doubt it.

Wow... ran across this site and there's a lot of inside info (or at least knowledgeable opinions) into Queensryche - especially on page. Very entertaining read.

I gotta be honest.....really, Geoff, spitting in someone's face? How old are you, 8? I'm not one to really take sides in all these band wars (altough I am sick of Sebastian Bach wanting back in Skid Row), but after reading the other members documents the other day on another website, I really want to agree with them and be on their side. Plus, Geoff, believe it or not, they have a dude that sounds pretty damn good signing the old stuff.....which is what the fans want to hear and will pay to go out and see. Count me in when they roll through Chi-town.....

That dude's voice is in-freakin-credible. He sounds just as good as a young Geoff Tate.
I gotta say that the statements by the other band members and Geoff's recent erratic behavior towards the fans of the band seems to back up their stories a lot more than his.
