Video is viral now , talk about poor and defenseless, I hope she is not volunteering her time to be a bus monitor. Best way to go about this is go after each kid alone, this a a pile on and these kids are surely all cowards, That video could be a great tool to get these kids the consequences they so deserve.

Like Bill Cosby said. "Let the beatings begin!" Damn.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I don't think she'll need to work at that job anymore. Already 100k raised for her "vacation."

I don't think so; it would have to be a massive setup as the kids' names, phone numbers and addresses have already been leaked by other students to the public.

Unfortunately I see more and more disrespectful children in this society. Children are not taught to respect adults. They are taught to do whatever they want, say whatever they want. I want to know what the school did to these shamefully evil children. How could a parent see this and have any pride in their child at all? They have raised little monsters.

School Bus Monitor Abused by Students Says She Won’t Quit Her Job
Email 0 Smaller Font Text Larger Text | Print

The New York school bus monitor who was seen crying on video after she was cruelly taunted by the middle-school students in her care says she plans to keep her job and just wants the students to apologize.

“That’s not like me,” Karen Klein told ABC News when asked whether she might resign from her job as a bus monitor for the Greece School District in Rochester, N.Y. “I’m not a real vindictive person. I just know I want something to happen to make them [the students] realize what they did.”

Klein, a 68-year-old mother of four and grandmother of eight, was riding on a school bus with several students from the district’s Athena Middle School in Rochester on Monday when she was subjected to mean and cruel mockery by several students.

In a 10-minute video that was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday by one of the students on the bus, several students can be heard taunting Klein, telling her she was a “fat ass,” “old ass,” dumb, poor and sweaty. Most of the voices appear to be male, and their comments toward Klein are riddled with profanity.

“I was just was trying to ignore them,” Klein said. “Usually I sit right in back, and I should have that day, but I sat one seat ahead so there was one boy in back of me and one boy in front of me. They just kept it up. They thought it was funny.”

In the video, the students touch her, comment about her hearing aid and make crude sexual references. One asks for Klein’s address so he can go to her home and urinate all over her door, and another discusses stabbing and cutting Klein. They are also heard asking her if she has herpes and if she lives in a trailer.

At one point, she is seen taking off her sunglasses and wiping at her eyes.

“Are you sweating? Karen, Karen! Are you sweating?” one student is heard asking her. She shakes her head, and the student adds: ”Then why is there water on your face?”

“I’m crying,” she replies.

At one point, when Klein tells the students “unless you have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” one student replied: “How about you shut the f**k up?”

Klein has worked at the school district for 20 years, mostly as a bus driver. She said this verbal attack was not the first time she had been taunted.

“When I was a driver I had a problem with middle-school kids,” she said. “I’m hoping for something to come of it. I want them to know that they did wrong.”

One boy’s comment was particularly cruel: “You don’t have a family because they all killed themselves because they didn’t want to be near you.”

Klein’s oldest son committed suicide 10 years ago, according to a report by ABC New affiliate 13 WHAM TV in Rochester.

The 10-minute video of Klein’s abuse has been viewed more than 1 million times and sparked a fundraising appeal in hopes of giving Klein a vacation and possibly getting her off the bus permanently.

As of early this morning, a petition posted on indiegogo.com indicated that more than $110,000 was donated to a fund for Klein, far overreaching the expected $5,000 with 30 days still to go in the online campaign. Of the more than 18,000 comments posted on YouTube, most appeared to uniformly condemn the students’ behavior.

“It does make me feel a whole lot better,” Klein said of the positive reaction. “I appreciated everything. I think it’s awesome.”

Police have interviewed four of the students, but no arrests have been made. The Greece school district said its bullying team is investigating, and the students will be disciplined.

The father of one of the teenage boys who was involved in the bullying says his “heart broke” to see that his son was part of the abuse, but that the boys have suffered enough with their faces made public in the video.

“My family’s received death threats,” Robert Helms told ABC News. “He’s a 13-year-old kid. It was a stupid mistake and he’s paying for it but I just think it’s a little out of control.”

Really? the boys have suffered enough? This is the fathers disciplinary choice? I don't think the boys should receive threats of any kind...but a parental response to your child verbally abusing an old woman is this? No wonder these kids are such brats.

Then maybe he'll think twice next time, huh?! That is fucking dispicable! No grandmother (volunteering her time no less) should EVER be treated that way. These mouthy kids have no fear of repercussions anymore nowadays. Bring back the strap I say.

They were horrible kids, but death threats I don't agree with. This man needs to take his son and make him volunteer at a homeless shelter, rake old peoples leaves, write her an apology letter, take away all privileges, and spank his sorry butt! I am sure expulsion should be on the table from school, and no more bus privileges...mom and dad can drive his sorry self to school every day. Or better yet, if he is within walkable distance make him walk back and forth to school.

The bus privleges should be gone for these kids for the verbal abuse they displayed,it not only will effect the kids in question but some of the parents who think their kids have been punished enough  .I did say the video could be a great way to teach these kids a lesson, you tube has just turned into a killer place to force an issue that otherwise would be ignored.

Good. Maybe she can retire, she should be already she is 70+ for crying out loud. It is so sad that seniors have to work to make ends meet. That will show those punks that this old lady who kept her temper in check and was nice the whole time gets rewarded for putting up with their useless selves. While they get the evil eye from the rest of the country. Even if they don't learn to respect seniors, society is letting them know that it is inexcusable to treat this lady this way. She is way nicer than I would have been.

Ok I watched about a minute of it and from what little I saw, it seems they got the wrong person to be a school bus monitor. They need someone like George Forman, you know, someone funny, like a grandpa figure, but can open up a can of whoop-ass on command.

Since the goal was only $5,000, does Max get to keep the other 300k?

Never mind, Indiegogo has confirmed that she will indeed get all of the money, the account in her name, not the guy who started the campaign.

They interviewed one father. He was a nice-looking, well-spoken man. He said it broke his heart watching it knowing his son was one of them, that his son could be capable of this. It's obvious from hearing the man's interview his son was not raised like this. The father said this goes far deeper than taking away TV privileges, being grounded, etc. He was also going to seek professional help for his son to try to figure out how this could happen. His son had written a letter of apology already. But you could really see his disappointment in his son, no excuses for him.

It happens to teachers from time to time. But not on a moving bus, and we get better support from administration. Bus monitors don't get a lot of respect from the schools. It is right that she did not report it before because of past incidents that had been reported were swept under the rug. She gets paid too little to deal with this at her age. But I am sure she is working because she needs it, that is why she put up with it. She better get every penny.

Yeah I saw that on the news too. Sad all the way around. I don't agree with the kids getting death threats. But bullying should NOT be tolerated, you reap what ya sow. With the world watching, it's going to be a very hard lesson learned for those kids and so it should be. If they can so freely speak to that old woman that way can just imagine they have no problem totally tormenting young girls in their school, or other kids. The gang mentality bullying has become an epidemic. Luckily my daughter didn't go through that, she stayed pretty neutral and friendly with all the different factions in junior & high school. My daughter did tell me stories of other kids in junior high (I think the worst years when it comes to peer pressure) that just broke my heart though . Just makes me mad and yet sad at the same time, that some kids crave attention sooooo bad they resort to bullying to fight their insecurities. And some actually don't grow out of it either, still resorting to bully as an adult.

Good for that parent. He realizes his son has a problem. One father who said his son has suffered enough is an enabler. Kids who would do this have serious problems. And the threats are on youtube as well, not to mention racial cut downs. I told one white supremacist moron that there is no "pure" race, and the "Chinks" and Blacks he was referring to could be part of his ancestry. He tried to argue with me but I gently shot him down at every turn. People like that suffer from extreme ignorance. Some were taught this from birth. But how crazy and mean people are hiding behind keyboards. Most would not have the guts to say such horrible things to someones face.

The video was about bullying and some of the posters were bullies themselves...unbelievable.
