Cost is the biggest con. Prepare to spend a friggin fortune, depending on how extravagant you go of course.

My 4yr old son is obsessed with Trains. Luckily he is still on the cheap "Brio" kind of stuff. Not lucking forward to the $$$ that I will be spending in the future if his obsession continues. The true model trains are freaking expensive. But, a kid could have alot worst hobbies.

Loved all things urban transit related since a wee lad. But no space or money to do anything still :(

Want to with my boys, but like I said....restrictions!

Had a huge (imo) layout, 4 plywood sheets at 8 X 4. HO Scale. Lost it all in Katrina. Some engines and cars, buildings were from the 70's. Remember TYCO?
Had a lot fun with it. If Insurance would have givin me any type of money I might have come back with more.
Still buy a model railroad mag every once in a while, and go into a hobby shop to look around.
