REO Speedwagon?

Has anyone caught REO live in the past few years? I'm debating seriously about going to see them next time they come around and was curious how they came off live. I watched one of their 2010 concerts (Moondance Festival, I think) and Cronin sounded pretty good, but I didn't know how much (if any) was adjusted post-production.

KC looks Skeletor and talks too freakin much, but they sound great.

Thanks. Though Skeletor didn't have such a delicate voice, now did he?

Cronin sounds feminine at times these days and has lost the deep end of his voice. I still say you should go see them. The band itself can still bring it. Add them to your concert resume for sure.

I concur with everyone elses statement. If you can put up with kc's yap yap yap it's an awesome show.
Plus this year they (or I should say kevin) have included a couple of good trouble tunes which haven't been played in 30 years which is a plus. I'm seeing them in a couple of weeks :D

It's probably been 6 or 7 years since I saw them too, but I agree. Just a good band overall, and you won't notice Cronin's vocal shortcomings because they are overall a solid band.

Bwahaha if only I could. Hell if I were in charge they would have a much better setlist.

Well, I guess you can just be happy he can still sing and talk. I always liked REO. When I was going through my divorce in 2000 I thought I was going to wear out "Time for me to Fly". It was the only song that helped me deal with the pain of a cheating no good husband. Now I have a wonderful husband I find I like "In my dreams" so much more. They had a lot of great hits. Tough guy used to make me laugh, especially with the little Rascals intro.

I just saw REO with Styx and Ted Nugent on July 1. I hadn't seen REO before. They're a bunch of ugly motherfuckers, but they sounded pretty good. With the reduced time frame involved with the triple bill, KC didn't run his mouth too much, which was something I was fearful of from things I heard from others here.

I would definitely say to go see them if you have the chance.

Saw REO Speedwagon back around 2003 I think it was. Wow, hard to believe that's been nearly 10 years ago now, but I can tell you that REO put on a very good concert! I had great seats (just a couple of rows behind front row. Cronin's deep end voice was gone back then, but they still put on a good show. It's definitely worth checking out.

Saw REO when they toured with Journey. As long as Ted Nugent is on the bill this time around I won't be going, it has nothing to do with Ted, it's about the type of crowd he brings in. I don't really want to spend an evening with a crowd full of semi-racist, white trash rednecks.

Oh for fucks sakes, what a pussy.

  Even assuming this is accurate, I think that description can apply to the majority of the crowd for just about ANY 70s or 80s concert out there. But he's just trying to get a veiled political jab in under the guise of a weak excuse. Carry on.

Saw them for the first time in '85 on the "Wheels Are Tourin'" tour. Only time I saw them with Richrath.

Seen them many times since, if you don't mind this neutered version, give it a shot.

Though I can't disagree with the first part of that sentence I will say
that my thoughts are, "us ugly Fothermuckers should keep in mind that we to
one day will look like prunes left in the pool to long"

He DOES sound a bit "powerless", I guess is the word, but they're still great. Saw Styx/REO in May, and it was a great show.

The relatively recent REO Soundstage DVD is very solid, and it features some performances from their last album (Find Your Own Way Home), too. I love watching that disc.

Saw them at PNC Field in Pittsburgh a few years back (they year their last studio Wal Mart album came out) and they sounded good. They couldn't get into a good rhythem because of the club starting fireworks after every few songs but they were good. Also saw them on the Journey/Styx/REO tour a few years back and they were solid.

If anyone's interested they re issued hi infidelity last year for the 30th anniversary. It's a 2 cd set
that contains a remastered copy of the album it's self along with the unreleased demos of the
album. The demos alone are the reason to pick up this disk.

Seen 'em 6 or 7 times in the past 5 years (wife's favorite band) and they never cease to deliver a fantastic show. You'll be hard pressed to find a classic rock band that harmonizes as well as they still do. What I still find hard to believe is that they produce such a full "big" vocal sound live with KC on leads and just Amato and Hall providing the backing vocals - (although it would be surprising if they weren't providing a little bit of orchestration via pre-recorded, mixed-in vox.) Even so, they still bring it and they still sound great!

I actually think their harmonies are the real deal, or at least they were as of a few years ago. Check out the XM Sessions DVD they included with the Find Your Own Way Home CD. You can hear them practice the Roll With The Changes harmony before they start and make some adjustments. Pretty impressive. See here:
