I used to think like that when I was younger - then I grew up and stopped being tolerant of people who act like that...so far so good, g/f has a job, I have a job, we keep our $$ separate for now...can't say $$ issues haven't come up, but they've been dealt with relatively painless...sorry to hear if you're dealing with someone like that or if you're having marital problems at this stage in life. Not fun

Well i've been with mine 15 years in June but i've never been married.My father remarried in '94 to a woman that i knew from the get go wasn't good.Well my dad always made great money then got laid off in 2009 then after a few months she told my dad she was leaving because she needed to be with a man who could provide for her and take care of her.Through many years most of the family was supportive of her and thought i just disliked her because she wasn't my mom.Well when this stuff was said we all saw her true colors.She still with my dad but she has gave him hell the last three years but he is now trying to get disability.He had an accident on the job in 2005 or so and then a stroke.Well my dads wife started telling everyone my dad could not have sex anymore and she was lonely and was thinking of leaving because her 'needs' weren't being met.Well bottom line is my dads wife is selfish.

We may not agree on alot of stuff here, but whatever you and your wife are going through, i hope it works out the way you both want.

Word of advice: if you get married, keep your finances as separate as possible.

It amazes me how many unhappily married people there are, i remember about 4-5 years ago Usa today posted "for the first time in the United States history, there are more single adults then married".

Not every woman is selfish but I do understand where you are coming from.

Myself speaking as a man who has been married for 11 years....as much as the ladies on this board may not want to hear this.

I think most all women want to find security in a man. Depending on the woman, that security can be found in different aspects. Some women find security in the man's bank account, some find it in how good the man is in bed, some find it in how big his muscles are or how tall he is, and some find it depending upon how big of an a-hole the guy is...LOL!

So you know when a woman latches on to you, and she knows you're not rich, not very muscular, not very tall, and generally nice to everybody he meets, then you've found a keeper for life!

Wow.... so sorry to read this Steve. There can't be much else that could happen to one's sense of security and overall emotional stability that could be as devastating as this after so many years together. I can only imagine how much it turns your whole world upside-down. The upside, if there is one, is that you're young enough to find someone great and spend the next 25 years as happy as a couple of pigs in shit (for lack of a better term... )

Hang in there my brother. It may be the end of the world for that relationship, but it's not the end of the world as we know it. And don't hate all women just because of the issues and the actions of one individual - there not all bad.

This is a thread I wish I had never started. Sometimes one's inner thoughts manifest themselves on your keyboard. Believe it or not the fight started over the cost of Journey tickets, which I insisted I was buying and she was insisting I was not. I guess a few beers and her telling me what to do didn't bode well with me, considering I work my ass off for 60 hours a week and I pay all the bills. She hasn't worked for 4 years and there is one excuse after another as to why, ie., I don't speak spanish, I don't have the right clothes, my teeth need work, I'm not happy about my weight....yada, yada, yada. Yet, I do not do enough, in her opinion! Jesus H., how much more can I work?!!!!! Yet, I am not entitled to any play time? Fuck me!
