Another free concert in the parking lot in Elk Grove Village.

When I saw that Dennis would be here I told my wife that the crowd would be big. She didn't believe me - until we got there. The organizers had blocked off the parking lot next to the library (we parked there when we saw Peter Rivera) and there were people sitting there. We eventually found our place and decamped for the show. I can't even attempt to say what "row" we were in it was like being on the floor of a show at the United Center and being in front of the soundboard. Eventually the show started with words from one local politico.

As soon as I saw his band I said to my wife "He (Dennis) is sure trying to give a visual impression that this is Styx." The guitar players looked like Tommy and James, at least from our position. The "Tommy" guitar player even did the back to back during "Lorelei". He sang the TS songs, pretty good to my ears. The bass player even took a "Chuck" stance by being in the shadows next to the drummer and rarely coming out front. DY addressed the crowd a few times then at one point said he drove 25 minutes to get here. And that he always thought of Elk Grove Village as not being that nice and made a reference to some factories. He seemed happy to be home (more or less). The acoustic version of "Don't Let It End" lacked something, at least to me it did.

At just about every song my daughter would say "we have this in the car!" I was teaching her the right time to clap during TMTOMH. She then decided to use mommy as a drum kit.

The sound was a problem. There were 4 stacks of speakers. Three high by three wide on either side of the stage and on the ground, also on both sides of the stage. At times I couldn't hear some instruments, while others were more up front. Dennis was pretty well always in the mix.
