College Move-In Day Today! Yesssssssss!!

My youngest kid went off to college today - sort of.....
She, like her sister, is attending Arizona State University on a full-ride academic scholarship (Thank God!!!) And even though we live only 10 miles from campus, she decided she wanted to live on campus in the dorms which, BTW, have come a LONG way since my college days, let me tell ya! In the past 5 years ASU has built 5 huge new dorms and has refurbished nearly all of the others including the addition of mini-kitchens in every dorm room (each dorm room is basically a 2-bdrm. apt. with 2 students per bdrm.) Wi-Fi enabled everything (The entire city of Tempe is Wi-Fi accessible for free), private bathrooms shared by only the 2 students in that dorm room - That alone is a major departure from my college days! Ohhhh the humanity of those community bathrooms on any given floor!!!!
12,000 students are moving in between yesterday and tomorrow and I gotta tell ya, they have this process down to an amazing science! You arrive at your assigned time at the campus' arena. The student gets out and goes through the check-in process. Meanwhile, a team of volunteers unloads your vehicle while yet another volunteer with tablet in-hand collects your student's ID #. They pull up the student's dorm and room number which is given to the team and whoosh! away they go with the student's belongings. You are then instructed where to go to park and how to get to the student's room. By the time you get there, your kid and their belongings are already there and you're done!
The entire process, from the time I pulled up until I was at my daughter's room.... 20 mins.! Unbelievable! And, they're checking in 350 students per hour!! Impressive!
So, with the youngest now moved out, for all intents and purposes, my wife and I are back to just the two of us which we have been looking forward to for a while now. And, of course the wife is taking it a bit harder than I am what with this daughter being the baby and all but we're both looking forward to the peace and freakin' quiet if nothing else! And if I never have to smell the odor that radiates from a hair straightener again it will be too soon!!!
Just curious if anyone else here has experienced the "empty nest" situation recently and if it was anything/everything you thought it would be.
