No wonder why most of us can't take politicians seriously. Is anyone else watching this crazy fuck, Clint Eastwood interview an empty chair on the stage at the Republican National Convention? This is flat out bizarre. All of these politicians and the people who think they walk on water are fucking nuts. This American political system flat out SUCKS!

Clint Eastwood is an actor and a damn good one. If he says it's time for Obama to go....IT IS!

He supported Obama, but now, like most of us, he realizes if it didn't work the first time, it ain't gonna work the second.

I hear what you are saying. It was a little weird at first. However, Clint had the best line of the entire convention and the entire political season. "We own this country!"

I think we forget that sometimes. The second half of his speech was very effective. First half was weird.

Don't know how effective Clint Eastwood really was, but he made some points and was very entertaining. Rubio was on the mark, and quite outstanding!

Now get this, although a strong conservative & mostly align myself with the GOP, I'm still a James Carville fan. (I watched the CNNHD coverage that had Carville as a commentator.) I've always loved this guy's loyalty, brilliance, and candor. When Carville said that Rubio was basically running for President 2016, he made perfect sense. But so what? Rubio's position was make everyone think about how most Americans came from humble beginnings, and how the future still belongs to us, not big goverment. And he did that very well.

Mitt Romney did very well also. I wish though that he'd been a bit more animated, more loose, and more soulful. However, he made a lot of great points, and took some very hard shots at President Obama. I'm an old Reagan guy, and one of the references to the Carter admin & how he was voted out, was a really nice move. We'll see...

I'm a bit anxious to see what the DNC has for us next week. You know very well that they are gonna pick apart the RNC. But there's a piece of me that says they'll dodge all the real issues, and just gloss over everything. They'll probably just attack whatever it is that they think that the RNC is telling us.

Will four more Obama years destroy us? Probably not. However, I do believe that a Romney/Ryan admin will put America back on track to growth & prosperity.

Interesting how they conveniently forget that in May of 2008, gas averaged $4.12 a gallon (the highest prices have ever been) while W. was still the President. For the record, I'm not a Democrat, nor a Republican (I actually think for myself and listen to the issues). I can only hope that one day the citizens of this country wake the fuck up and realize that both parties completely SUCK! If the best this country can do is Obama and Romney, we're all fucked!

I'm glad the 2008 hike was short lived. It came down pretty quick. This latest sustained price is killing me. I have my wife and I that drive a lot and three teenage drivers. It is true that some new policies have made these prices rise and stay high. No getting around that. I'd like to see it go back down under $2 no matter who is elected. It's one of those things that hit the poor the hardest. It's like an added tax on society.

I think you will find that the Clint Eastwood spot was originally planned for Donald Trump, who would
pretend to interview the president about his performance and then say at the end of it You are fired.
Trump clearly though it would make him look idiotic, (but it might of actually worked for him).

I have voted in the past but am abstaining this year. I've never bought into the bullshit of "it's your duty". It's not my duty to elect someone I have ZERO confidence in. I truly believe Obama and Romney are equally bad, but I also believe that most people believe that the devil that they know is better than the devil that they don't know, which is precisely why I think Obama will win, easily. I'll actually be shocked if this election is close. We just saw this with W. Most people with brain cells connected didn't think W. was a very good President. The economy was in the tank, the banking system collapsed, the auto industry collapsed, the housing market collapsed, and 9/11 happened on his watch. Even with all of that, the guy got re-elected, because a guy from Massachusetts was running against him. I don't think he got re-elected because anyone thought he was a great President. He was simply the lesser of two evils, to most. I also think Obama is FAR more likeable than Romney, which is why I think he'll win this election easily. Most who don't like Obama as a President don't dislike him personally, and I think that counts for something on Election Day.


The last President I liked and I thought was competent was Bill Clinton. If I was old enough, I would have voted for Reagan, as I LOVED Reagan. I will tell you that overall, I think every poltician is completely full of shit and is disappoints me wildly the hero worship that many have for these people. Generally, I'm a moderate thinking person and have never liked any politician who has extremist views. I'd prefer religion to stay out of my government and have never been comfortable with politicians who want to govern the country based on their religious principles. I do like to watch both conventions, because I think everyone should listen to both sides. The thing I enjoy the most is when "Fact checking" is introduced by the media right after a speech. When they picked apart Ryan's speech the other night, most of what he said simply wasn't accurate and certainly not based on any real facts. I have no doubt that Obama and Biden will be guilty of the exact same thing, and it REALLY pisses me off that these guys blatantly lie their asses off and that the American public is moronic enough to deal with it and accept everything that is being said as gospel (Of course, as long as it is being said by someone in the party they align themselves with). You're definitely right about the hero worship. Not to indulge in pointless cynicism, but politics really is the hypocrite's arena (and I say that as a poli-sci major ). Voters who have certain leanings don't bother me at all, but the intractable extremists and absolutists on either side are more than I can stomach. It's like dealing with Loons, but on a much grander scale.

It just boggles the mind to imagine how Paul Ryan can stand up there and lash Barack Obama for abandoning Bowles-Simpson when he did exactly that himself. Or for taking $716 billion out of Medicare that Ryan’s own budget also removes from Medicare. Or try to blame him for the closing of a GM plant that actually closed while George W. Bush was president.

Yeah, that's really the key: both parties are habitually guilty of it. If pressed, I identify with certain parties on certain issues, and I am registered Republican, but that was the result of a literal coin flip.

I think Monker said it best. Romney, while not desirable, is no Sarah Palin. I thought Palin's selection was actually a joke, until I realized that McCain wasn't joking. I thought Palin was the absolute worst VP candidate ever selected by anyone (which is really saying something, given what a jackass Biden is)!

I truly don't like either of these candidates and am not sure how anyone does. Let me say this...I don't blame everything on Obama. The reality is that Obama inherited the biggest disaster that ANY American President ever has. That said, I don't feel like he's done a damn thing to fix it and in many cases has made things worse. Don't misconstrue this as defending Obama, because to be blunt, I think the guy has sucked as President. That said, It drives me nuts when some (mostly Republicans) act like Obama inherited a Utopian Paradise. The truth of the matter is that W. sucked as much as President as Obama has. I can only hope there is another Ronald Reagan out there, somewhere, someday. As long as we have choices like "Dumb and Dumber", we're all fucked!
