He manages to keep singing while barfing on stage....

But he's banging the hell out of Selena Gomez, which is all that matters. Lucky prick.

The problem with this little prick is he came out of nowhere and shot to stardom literally overnight and has dominated the pop scene for way too long. Both of my daughters (18 & 21) love the shit out of him for some strange reason.... go figure... and having learned more than I wanted to about him through them talking about him as well as watching the majority of his movie, he's a very talented kid and very likeable - as a person. I just don't see the appeal and the hook he's got and maintained which has created a Billion $$ brand.

As for the topic of this thread.... Hell, lipping is way common with these pop bands. Brittany, Christina, GaGa... they've all been caught doing it.

My Grandpa thought Elvis was a little prick too. My dad couldn't stand him because too many prime 17 and 18 year olds were refusing dates, preferring to go listen to their record players on Friday and Saturday nights. When Elvis hit TV back in the 60's Dad wanted to shoot the TV, as whatever was on would be instantly cancelled, in favor of the King. One night this escalated. Dad was watching a George Foreman fight and Mom bee-bopped into the room proclaiming that she was going to watch Elvis, then suddenly changed the channel. I still remember Dad launching his plate of spaghetti across the living room. It made a awful dent in the wall and stuff was everywhere. I don't recall how they cleaned it all up, as I was probably at school......but man, it was a hell of a mess and probably the start of the demise of my parent's marriage.

Apparently his fans are True BelieBers as evidenced by post-after-post of an "OMG!!" moment he pulled on stage at every stop along the tour path. At one point during his act (and "ACT" weighs very heavily in this case...) he becomes overcome by emotions and has to pause to cry for a few seconds and stops "singing" during the same song each night
Don't take my word for it....

And what exactly does that have to do with the legitimacy (or the lack thereof) of his performances? Just because he's a tool as a pop "artist" doesn't mean he can't or doesn't legitimately and perhaps even sincerely care about unleavened, pocket bread!! Just out of curiosity, which brand was he endorsing on the billboard?

I guess the question I was actually asking amid the sarcasm and my feeble attempt at humor was this... How the Hell is that relevant to the topic of the thread? Your reply is basically the same as if there was a thread about Journey celebrating their 40th anniversary next year and someone posting a reply discussing the similarities/differences between Journey's drummers. Or, if someone replied to a thread about Bieber's lipping with a post about seeing him on a billboard supporting PETA. Do ya see what I'm getting at...?

He is the poster child for "it's not what you know but who you know". Seems unfair that he comes out of nowhere while there are others who've busted their asses for years before becoming successful, but that's part of the music business I guess.

True, but as my friend who is 45 years old and has a girlfriend who is 4 month past her 18th bday says, it's great and all but the looks that women his own age give him when the two are out in public together is bad. Guys give him thumbs up all day long though. He says that being with the younger chick is nature's viagra as he has a sex drive of a 17 year old again, and she accommodates him.

Well.... sorta... While it's true he was discovered and initially introduced to the world by Usher, ultimately it was his agents and the record label who saw a "golden goose" in him and have done a phenomenal job at marketing the brand in every way they could come up with and it's made him and everyone associated with the Justin Bieber franchise very wealthy.
The obscene amount of money that has been generated by the brand serves as proof positive who the money-spending, target market is. And it's far from over. He's already out-earned N'sync, Backstreet Boys, and NKOTB, COMBINED!

The Sushi Hunter wrote: Seems unfair that he comes out of nowhere while there are others who've busted their asses for years before becoming successful, but that's part of the music business I guess.
It is indeed. The fat cats at the label know a cash cow when they see one and have a very, very well proven method of exploiting it for every single nickel via a precisely choreographed path.

When you put aside your personal opinion of him and/or his particular style and look at the corporate entity that has been created, marketed, finessed, etc. by his handlers and his management, it's a fairly interesting story. One the thing that has stunned industry experts and critics alike is the fact that his empire didn't come crumbling down when his voice changed. They were positive the appeal would instantly disappear once the "little boy" factor was gone but unlike other pre-pubescent phenom singers who experienced that very scenario (Billy Gilman for example) his popularity increased. If demand for him et al continues at its current rate, he'll be a billion dollar enterprise before year's end.

Agree, What comes to mind is Milli Vanilli. This is why the real singers of Milli Vanilli couldn't become sucessful completely on their own from the very start. They could sing and all, but didn't have the physical appeal portion of it.

Most of the times in the entertainment business, you have to have all of what it takes to attract the masses such as looks, sex appeal, but most of all contacts of people who can and are willing to pull the strings or know someone who owes them a big enough favor that can pull the strings for them.

If you are lacking in any of these categories, it's going to be a long and bumpy road to success without any guarentee of success ever. Just look at how many people spent their entire lives going through hell to become successful but never made it. There are way more who have not then who have. Like everything else in life, they're just playing the odds, unless of course they are born into it where their parents are in special places within the industry or have connections who can pull the strings.

We've discussed this in great details and from what he tells me about it, she is very mature for her age and graduated with full top honors from school, so she's not uneducated or desperate. She was so advanced in school that she actually started college at the age of what a normal kid starts as a freshman in highschool. She's half Asian and half white. As for the issues she may have, it's not as much an "Daddy" issue as it could be a turn-on type of thing like the playboy image. She has this "thing" for the playboy image of young beautiful women running with the much older mature guy, much like how Hugh Hefner and his playmates are. She wears garmets with playboy the bunny emblem on them. The only time they ever have any relationship issues that I am aware of is, believe it or not, is when she is more in the mood than he is.

This is what their "relationship" is based on: fucking! She's young and hot, he can't believe he's with an 18 y.o. honey, and he's better off not worrying about how long it's going to last (because it's not going to). Just enjoy it for it what it is. Sooner or later she'll hit the point where she wants to date somebody much closer to her age. Just tell your buddy not to fall in love. That would be stupid.

One morning he's gonna wake up singing "When It's Time To Change" like Peter Brady..
