Hopefully, most of you don't have some of the same jackass FB "friends" that I have.

That and they want to squeeze every working minute out of them even if pushing a broom is not part of your job description.

I think it has to be a mix. I work in an environment where we work from home often. Some people you can never seem to reach and are definitely not putting in the hours. Sometimes it's hard to move the ball forward without everyone in the room. I work well from home, but I'm a workaholic, so....
I like the idea of a day or two when all employees are in the office to meet and make decisions, but then allow them to go off and do the work from wherever works best for them.
You just have to make sure people don't fade off.
When I was in LA, working from home meant 4 or 5 hours less per day in the car. I think the last 4 years I was there I never went in on a Friday and I had gotten to the point where I only went to the office on Monday to remind people I still worked there.

I applied this rule indiscriminately, so even if it was someone I see a lot or chat with frequently on the FB chat (which i rarely use anymore anyway), they got axed. At first I contemplated just hiding their updates, but I figured I'd go the full mile and delete them. My reasoning: I really don't have time for idiotic loud-mouthed liberals who basically advocate thieving from me. I don't mind if you vote Democratic, but keep your mouth shut about it around me if we're gonna be friends. I'll do you the same courtesy. And truth be told, we'll probably never be great friends. We might enjoy some great common ground together, like music or sports, and enjoy going to concerts/games etc., but we will never be great friends. For those people, we need to have similar ideologies. Thus, I don't need to keep up appearances around the loud-mouth whackjobs and pretend like I like them, because I don't.
For the most part, I got rid of the political rantings. This isn't a scientific rule by any means, but I think the libtards have far more free time to post rantings and ravings about politics every day. To be sure, I still have SOME political posts coming from the right wing people. But all in all, I think most of the people I'm friends with who, like me, are right-wing, are busy and successful enough to not have time to post shit like that on Facebook. In the free time I do have, I'd rather post here or other boards debating things I like and making arguments on subjects you can actually change other people's minds on. Politics obviously ain't that.

That hasn't been my experience Matt. It's been equally insufferable for both candidates, and if I'm being honest, the Pro-Romney crowd has been far more obnoxious on my Facebook. I understand that some people are really passionate about politics (although, I will never understand why). That said, this isn't a partisan thing for me, AT ALL. I'm on record as loathing politicians. I find nothing remotely noble about the profession, and most of these fuckers (on both sides of the aisle) are corrupt as hell! My larger issue is that I personally don't give a fuck what everyone's political beliefs are. It's not really that important to me, nor do I care which one of these ass clowns that people are going to elect. The notion that one is better than the other is beyond laughable to me. They both suck equally. The fact that there are so many people who actually believe that most of us actually give a shit about who they are voting for tells me that these folks have a VERY warped sense of reality and their importance in the world! I'd prefer to get back to a time when people kept their political opinions to themselves!

If I share political posts, comments, or stories and it pisses people off, that says more about their intolerance for opinions other than their own than it does me. If someone doesn't like something I post, they're more than welcome to scroll past it or, if their skin is thin enough, block or defriend me. I see stuff on my newsfeed all the time that I'm not particularly interested in. No one forces me to read it.
For example...I've got one former high school classmate who posts pro-Obama and anti-Romney rants, pictures, and articles all the time. I comment occasionally but not in an argumentative fashion and I can't remember the last time anyone's been uncivil to me on any of the stuff I've posted.

Yep, just scroll, scroll, scroll. It's not like having a friend who gets off on calling you and spewing his vitriol. And I DO have a friend like that. He's quieted that shit down the last couple years, thankfully. We used to really get into it.

That's too bad. I enjoy having folks in my circle of friends who disagree with me even if they vehemently do so. I usually don't engage them but I can at least learn something about them or from them that I might not have known otherwise.
As far as I know, I've only been openly defriended by two folks...One is a diehard Communist from England. The other, an America-hating Socialist who graduated high school with my wife and was contemplating moving to Canada due to her hatred of her own country.

I defriended your ass too!![]()
But it was just because I was reducing Facebook to family and coworkers. Nothing personal at all. I've been working so much lately that I don't have time for even them, much less everyone.

That actually kinda bums me out. I enjoyed seeing you on there.

I'm sorry. When I get back to a normal life, if that ever happens, I'll definitely refriend you, Dave.

You suck.
Now it's time to get back to downloading audio tracks from Youtube.

Facebook has become unbearable

This is exactly why we don't have FB accounts in our home.
Real friends stop by or call.

That's kind of ridiculous...It's not made for face to face relationships but to stay in contact with folks you otherwise wouldn't be able to do so in the normal fashion. It's a great tool, in my opinion.
