**WARNING -- VIDEO CONTAINS REALLY BAD LANGUAGE**

The Cleveland bus driver who fired back at an aggressive female passenger with a FEROCIOUS uppercut to the face ... has been fired by his bus company.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority has announced ... Artis Hughes was terminated from his job ... for not following policy after he was assaulted by the passenger back in September.

In a statement, the RTA explains ... "Mr. Hughes claims that his actions were in self-defense. The evidence does not support that claim."

"We expect our employees to diffuse any potential situation. We do not believe that Mr. Hughes took the proper steps to diffuse this situation."

"The proper procedure would have been to pull over and stop the bus, then call Transit Police for assistance."

However, RTA does say ... "The customer was out of line and charges have been filed against her."

Moments after the driver smacked the woman, he told her, "She wanna be a man, I'm gonna treat you like a man."

So far, no comment from the bus driver.

Holy rip...Unless she's actually attacking him with some kind of weapon, that's inexcusable.

Are you serious? Did she physically assault him? Even so, when he did assault her, she wasn't being overly aggressive at that point. As a man, you NEVER hit a woman unless they're physically assaulting you and, even then, just enough to defend yourself. What this dude did was over the line.

Women want to be treated as equals and if they got balls enough to physically attack a guy, I say the guy has a right to fight her back. If a small 120 pound guy went up to that bus driver and did the same exact thing and the bus driver did the same thing to the guy as he did to that chick, it would somehow be ok then, chalking it up to the smaller guy fucked with the bull and got the horns. So if a woman has the balls to attack a guy, I say fuck that shit and it's game on. By the way, I've never struck any woman I was involved with. If she pissed me off, I'd avoid physical confrontation completely because that's how I deal with things. But if a woman started fucking with me like this woman did to the bus driver, I may not give her that uppercut as he did, but I sure as shit would push her face through a closed door on the way out. Oops, door was closed, didn't notice that when I was throwing her head first out the bus.

Broken jaw and some missing teeth may cause her to rethink her approach next time to a more civilized manner in which she communicates with someone.

Woman or not, if someone keeps hitting you, you have a right to stop that person. Even if it means hitting them back. Ideally, he would have stopped the bus and called the transit police.

Inexcusable? Hardly. Spitting on someone is a VERY serious offense, regardless of the spitter's gender. That's grounds for aggravated (i.e., not just regular) battery and even intentional infliction of emotional distress in some jurisdictions.

I gotta say, I could laugh off some crazy broad's slaps or pathetic attempts at punches, but if some random wench spit on me? All bets are off. And this is coming from a protective big brother to 2 sisters and lots of women in the family.

He could've easily enough overpowered her and just taken her to the ground or something like that instead of slugging her.

hitting and spitting is assault in most places... I'd be getting an attorney if I was him and I'd be suing for my job back...

Spitting is the ultimate disrespect to me. You could call me every name in the book. You could even shove me for all I give a fuck but if somebody goes as far as to spit in my face, the RAGE is on.

Spitting can be a serious offense if pursued. There's the whole blood-borne pathogens issue. Her spit can be deadly if she has a disease.

Did anyone notice that not only was she the instigator, verbally and then physically assaulting the bus driver, but then when he wasn't taking it anymore and got up and told her she was going to jail, she provoked him further, saying "Let's go". What did she think was going to happen? I think we should all avoid hitting each other and try to walk away whenever possible, but when someone attacks you, you have the right to defend yourself regardless of the attacker's gender. He didn't need to haul off and deck her to subdue her, but if she wants to get into it like a man, she can't expect to be treated like a lady. And I would never tolerate someone spitting on me either.

Thanks! I can't imagine what city bus drivers have to deal with on a daily basis, but it looks even worse than what school bus drivers experience. Now I understand those years in high school when I had to ride the bus and the driver took corners like Richard Petty - he was trying to get though the trip as fast as possible!

This poor guy is just trying to make a living and has to put up with crap like this. The woman cost him his job, and you KNOW she and her "babby daddy" don't work. This is EXACTLY what is wrong with society.

Hopefully someone who sees this video will give the man another job. I applaud him for standing up for what is right and smacking this bitch. Her parents should have done that long before this.

I don't agree with too much use of force, but people don't realize what it is like to be abused by people these days.

I think if they threw the book at the people who climb up on a counter at BK and throw stuff at staff, attack bus drivers, bus monitors, teachers, you would see less of these people feeling the need to defend themselves regardless of the consequence to their jobs.

Is it worth it to the bus driver for what little he makes an hour to be abused like that? Or to be spit upon or hit? I think if the owner of the bus company got spat upon and assaulted his thoughts would change to say the least. People these days are spoiled brats who think they can throw an adult tantrum and hurt people with no repercussions.

I like the fact that if I as a teacher get assaulted that there will be severe criminal consequences for my attacker. I think it should be the same for these drivers.

The bus driver chose not to press charges... still lost his job... although his union is fighting to get it back...

Holy shit...don't even ask me why I looked at this thread...but I am glad I did. Now, I agree and disagree with points made above, but DAMN, he landed that uppercut and it made me laugh. So many double standards to think about and ponder on this one.....

This is true except for when the opposite stance is in their favor socially or legally. Our world is full of double standards.

Yep, this video is deffinitely one of the best clips I've seen in a long long time. I can't figure out though how she got back in the bus. I thought he tossed her out by her head with her shit. I'll have to watch that again, maybe I missed it.
