Cops: Man plotted attack during 'Twilight' movie

23-year-old Blaec Lammers was charged with three felony counts on Friday. Police say he had purchased movie tickets, two assault rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition.

BOLIVAR, Mo. — A southwest Missouri man is accused of plotting to open fire inside a movie theater during a screening of the new "Twilight" film.

Twenty-three-year-old Blaec Lammers of Bolivar was charged Friday with three felony counts, including making a terrorist threat.

Bolivar police say his mother contacted authorities Thursday, saying she was concerned her son had purchased weapons similar to those used in the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo.

Investigators say Lammers told authorities he was planning to attack the theater and a Walmart store Sunday. Police say he'd bought movie tickets, two assault rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition.

A phone message left by The Associated Press at Lammers' home wasn't returned. Online court records don't say if he has an attorney.

Prosecutors say they'll seek a mental examination.

We took the kids to this over the weekend. The girls loved it. I didn't think it was that bad either. Our youngest (14 years old) is the one most interested in this movie. She's got all of them on Blu-Ray except this last one, which I'm sure she'll get soon to add to her collection. I can't understand why someone would want to shoot up people during this movie, or any other movie for that matter. I'm starting to wonder if shootings aren't because of the movie that's playing but more a place of opportunity. If it wasn't during movies, it would be during other events. I think what draws these wackos out to shoot up theaters is the fact that it's a place where so many people gather in one place. If there were no movie theaters, they'd start shooting up at other places people gather.
