'BOUT FUCKING TIME, is all I can say.
Love how Geddy is more concerned with his fans loving it than he is with them getting in. THAT'S how a band SHOULD work.

Public Enema making it in on their first try shows that this Hall of Fame isn't much of an honor.
Still glad they finally got their due though.

Utterly irrelevant and pointless. No one gives a fuck about the HOF joke anymore.

^^^Agreed.
Excuse my language, but Donna F'n Summer? Are you kidding me? I'd put the Pointer Sisters in before her.
Heart. It's about time. Public Enemy-yes, but this is the R&R HOF, not the gangsta Rap HOF. They need to build that in South Central or the Bronx.
This HOF is no different than the others. The wrong people are doing the voting, and thus, the wrong bands/people get elected.
Any guesses on what Rush plays? I'm guessing Sawyer, Radio & Limelight.

Glad to see Rush and Heart get in. Sad to see that so much garbage gets in before great artists. Actually, Donna Summer I can agree with.

And that's a real shame isn't it? Something that could and should have been the pinnacle of a band's career, something that should have been prestigious, something whose board was made up of respected icons of the music biz who played by a very precise set of rules. Oh wait, that's the vision they were supposed to have when it started. What the fuck happened...?

The honorable people who enacted the R&R HoF snorted too much Cocain and let too many low lifes give them head.

Donna Summer? Pure-sympathy being inducted and no way is she even remotely close to rocknroll. Public Enema>LOL and on the first ballot at that?
It took years of fan-led campaigns and petitions to get Rush inducted, yet Randy Newman bounces right in there? Instead of Deep Purple???? Instead of Kiss?? Instead of Journey? Instead of Def Leppard?? Really?? Randy FREAKIN Newman????
When the category of Greatest Rock and Roll Artists of All Time comes up, does anyone think Randy Newman? I mean ANYONE????
I can see why many in the general populous have so much contempt for this organization. The criteria is suspect, their methods are questionable, the choices astounding and their logic dizzying. Nothing but a bunch of cocksuckers led by the biggest of all Jan Wenner. I actually hope Rush declines to show up and let's it be known they deserved this a long ass time ago.
That being said, I am happy for Rush but mainly for the members of their audience that have championed this for so long.
And now that Randy Newman has been inducted, those other bands I mentioned shouldn't have such stiff competition for next year, and might just get in. Unless of course, Oran “Juice” Jones or Timbuk 3 are nominated. Oh, the shame & humanity of it all.

never quite understood why the ROR HOF let in non rock artists.
Used to think it would be cool to see Journey, Styx, or Foriegner because maybe they would appear together on stage,
but now I know thats never going to happen

Here's the answer to that question as it pertains to Rap being considered Rock as explained by Sampson at Digital Dream Door.
http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/w ... -rock.html
As for Journey, their chances of ever being inducted are slim and he explains why here:
http://digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_ ... me_x3.html Scroll down to Journey.
"A solid but unspectacular career for what many perceive to be a second tier arena rock band doesn't bode well for their chances, especially since they've been eligible since 1997 and haven't gotten a sniff from the voters. Don't expect that to change in upcoming years. But in respected lead singer Steve Perry and a string of hits throughout the 80's, they have enough credentials to at least be considered, though it is unlikely the results will change. "
Styx and their chances are discussed here:
http://digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_ ... me_x5.html Scroll down to Styx.
"Arena-rock staples with some progressive rock touches, Styx were consistently successful on both the singles and album charts without ever garnering much critical attention. Both their progressive beginnings and power ballad later years have the misfortune of being from two areas voters have traditionally despised and considering that artists from the same era with equal or better credentials haven't gotten close to induction any chances for Styx to even be nominated seem to be far off. "

Keep in mind, folks, these are just opinions.
Journey is, and will continue to be one of the most beloved bands in America and world wide. Most of us who went to High School in the late 70's and 80's will remember that it was just not cool to like Journey, except when you were in "deep cover" banging the chick of your moment. Driving Vega's or Pintos AND your Father's station wagon was the norm. Banging a cheer leader was even better, but you'd better be driving your dad's Eldo or DeVille to get that kind of trim. Yet....the music survived generations and they still manage to fill venues wherever they go. It's an amazing failure of epic proportions. You got 3 generations of peeps, paying dollars, to put their asses in seats, to listen to some old washed up rock band. It defies everything in life that makes sense. I think those intergalactic bugs must have had an effect on people's senses.....I swear!
I seem to have run out of beer and now have to walk down to 7-11. I'll be back....

He also stated there that Rush didn't have much of a chance of getting in.
