Your teams Mount Rushmore

PostPosted: Thu Dec 13, 2012 9:32 am

If your favorite teams had a Mount Rushmore of the four best players in it's history, who would they be?

Example... The Yankees.. would it be say Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle?
Or might it be Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Berra?
Or Ruth, Gehrig, Jeter, Rivera?

Example...The Lakers... would it be Johnson, Jabbar, Bryant, O'Neal?
Or Johnson, Jabbar, Bryant, Chamberlain?
Etc, etc.

Try to only name guys who played some of their prime years on the team.
For example, there were guys like Steve Carlton, Keith Hernandez, Dave Winfield, Jack Morris, Eddie Murray, and guys like that who played for the Indians, but it was at the end of their careers, and they weren't in their primes. So I wouldn't put them on the Indians list.

Name one of your favorite teams Mount Rushmore, or up to 3 of your favorite teams Mount Rushmore's.

You can also name a coach to the list if you want in addition to 3 players

Ted Williams (duh!)
Carl Yastrzemski
Pedro Martinez
Jim Rice (my favorite player of all-time)

I guess that's okay if it's merely a "favorite" players list. That said, if we're talking about all-time greats, Witten isn't even the best TE the Cowboys have had.

What's with all the assbags listing coaches? What part of "player" are people not comprehending? Also...Troy Aikman? Ha. Fucking HILARIOUS! He's probably the worst player ever inducted into the Hall of Fame!

Landry WAS the Cowboys, 1st off

2nd...Aikman had the most accuracy I had ever seen at the time. Brady's the only one I could consider more accurate now. And if ya want...replace him with Pearson or Irvin on my list. I'm torn anyway...too many greats to fit into 4 faces on a mountain.

Head coach for 29 years, and there from the beginning. He WAS the Cowboys, unlike Perry to Journey. Dennis DeYoung to Styx maybe. lol

Baltimore Sports:

Johnny Unitas
Brooks Robinson
Ray Lewis
Cal Ripken (although personally I'd choose Lenny Moore or Jim Palmer)

Actually, you're supposed to keep it to 4 Colts players, or 4 Orioles players. Not a mixture of the two.
You can name both lists if you want.
You can even throw in the Ratbirds if you want. :P

If you picked 4 from the Browns who would you choose.

An outsider's uneducated guess from my perspective:

Jim Brown
Lou Groza
Leroy Kelly
Otto Graham

That's a pretty good guess.

Jim Brown, Otto Graham and Lou Groza are definitely 3 of them.

I hate to name a coach, but since I said that someone can name a coach if they wanted to, I guess I have to name Paul Brown? After all, he is one of the greatest Football coach's in history, and he was the architect of the Browns.

So I'll say...
Paul Brown
Jim Brown
Otto Graham
Lou Groza.

If I were to remove Paul Brown, then some of the main contenders to be added to the list are...
Leroy Kelly
Marion Motley
Paul Warfield
Gene Hickerson
Dante Lavelli
Ozzie Newsome

Speaking of Lou Groza. My grandmother used to babysit Lou Groza's children back when Groza was on the Browns.

My Indians list...

Bob Feller
Tris Speaker
Earl Averill
Napoleon Lajoie

But it is tough to leave off...
Bob Lemon
Lou Boudreau
Larry Doby
Early Wynn
Cy Young
"Shoeless" Joe Jackson
Omar Vizquel
And several others.

I thought about a Ravens list before you posted yours.
I guessed that it would be...
Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Jonathan Ogden
Jamal Lewis
