Good one. I swear bowser had a million kids. Took forever
to beat that one.

Mine would have to be both versions of Mario 2. The US version had the Mario and co. beating up baddies with vegetables. The Japan version had the original Super Mario 1 graphics, but it was a hell of a lot harder, (later released as 'The Lost Levels' on Mario All-Stars for the SNES.)

Nowadays, I dabble with Mario RPG and Mario Kart from time to time.

SMW2: Yoshi's Island

After 15+ years I still play it on PC with an emulator. Gameplay is simply awesome 8)

I got mario 2 & 3 at the same time for christmas one year. I remember giving up
on mario 2 very quickly because a. didn't get the hang of it b. had no freakin idea
what the story was with all the new bosses and why mario threw vegetables. I also
wondered where the hell bowser was

Aside from the original (in 1985 I got the Nintendo), I'd have to say Super Mario World for SNES. TONS of gameplay on that one, 'cause of all the extra levels. Kinda felt like I was playing Zelda. lol

The crying baby killed it for me...may revisit still but, it was pretty obnoxious from what I remember...Playing through Mario Wii U...pretty much by the numbers, but good.

Had a blast playing an unrelated game recently - "Splosion Man" for XBox Live/360. Pure fun, 2d/platforming. Highly recomended.

Basically, the Mario 2 plot took place inside one of his dreams, hence why it didn't make any sense. The game itself was just a failed Japan game (Doki Doki Panic) with graphics reprogrammed with the Mario theme and sold on the US market. It was also made into an easier game; in Doki Doki, you had to guide all 4 characters through the whole game, while as in Mario 2, the stage was beat regardless of who you used.
