My concert going days are ending

Not completely, but let me share this.

I have seen nearly every band I enjoy 5 to 25 times. (and that is a TON of artists)

Any repeat shows from bands I like now cost too much. Case in point Fleetwood Mac. I don't sit in cheap seats and the tops this time are $167 in my area. No thanks. They may still be good, but any better than anything I've already seen before? No way.

Kiss are my favorite band ever. Knew they would play a short set this summer teaming with Motley and prices were high. Instead of going to multiple shows like usual, I took a $20 lawn special in Virginia to see 1 show. Probably wouldn't have done that but I did want to hear the one new song live that I knew they would play.

I'm passing on bands I used to see all the time and only take in a spot show now and then as a social event if a lot of friends are going.

A Cheap Trick in a club for $35 will still get me out, but the days of me going to so many concerts are dwindling down.

I think it is the price of getting older and most of my favorite bands charging too much without bringing anything new to the table.

Thoughts?

That doesn't count MR Fest by the way Andrew.

I plan on being there.

You should try hookers. They can play all of your favorite band's music and make you feel great at the same time. You can fire them when they are done, leave a bill by the bedstand and never look back.

Ensenada is still the best. But then again , it's my second home town since I worked on a cruise ship in a band and was there twice a week for five years. I know what to do and where to go.

I have already been doing that for a while. And like you, the last time I seen Kiss with the Crue, bought 2 lawn seats at $20 bucks a piece. That's the

very LAST time I will ever see Kiss again. Seen them over 20 times in my life time so far and that's enough. There aren't many of the great bands that

I haven't seen multiple times or more & enough is enough. Prices are off the chain and merchandise? Don't even get me started on paying $45 bucks

for a "T"! I think that after I seen Roger Waters and the Wall tour and it hit home. The reason why I went to most concerts in the last 9 years was so

my kid could experience them. I had already did my time with them and looking back was lucky enough to see them when they were young & hungry.

There will be nothing that will EVER compare to seeing The Might Van Halen in their prime, or Kiss on the Destroyer tour or Def Leppard on their "In

the round" tour. I will be going to Las Vegas in March to see Def Leppard play the entire "Hysteria" album along with their greatest hits. They are in

my top 5 band list and this is a chance to head west with my son, see Vegas, the Grand Canyon and take a drive on the Pacific Highway. He's 17 now

and I have one more solid year with him before he heads off to college. I'm making the most of it!

similar thoughts on my end also. I'll go see most bands that hold some interest once. To get me back a 2nd time, it better not be a repeat of the first time. If the setlist changes enough, or they are just THAT good, sure I'll go back. Ticket prices these days aren't cheap, travel expenses to get there isn't cheap, and there are other things for the same amount of money that I enjoy more than spending 2hrs seeing a band.

There are exceptions, and sometimes I'll try and see someone who I've never seen but always liked, but spending more money just to get a repeat of a band going through the motions on a show that that I've already seen seems like the definition of insanity.

I've made it a point to get to at least 1 concert every year but that didn't happen this year. Tight finances and outrageous ticket prices brought that streak to an end. Decent seats are way too expensive and I refuse to spend my money on crappy lawn seats.

The 1990 "Hot In The Shade" tour is the one I think you would have enjoyed bro. His voice on that tour was never better. 2 hour set and the stage rivaled anything they ever did in greasepaint.

I have seen Bon Jovi several times over the years. I doubt I will go back owing that his voice has deterioated quite a bit. That, and something about his politics is a major turn off to me. He just strikes me now as being a major ass hole. Still that is quite the thing for me to admit considering that I was SINCERELY and COMPLETELY batty for BON JOVI as a a teenager.... Back in the day, I would have given my first born cat child away for primo front row seats. Good thing they weren't around back then, otherwise it would be BYE BYE kitty

If people will blame a voice for not attending concerts anymore, what is gonna happen if Steve Perry ever decides to get on stage again. Will, it be Steve get's a pass, but everyone else sucks?

I mention JBJ's voice being a deciding factor, but even so it is more than that. The guy personally just turns me off. He and the band don't seem to have anythng new to add to the table. Maybe, it is just my not being a teenager anymore. :(

As for STEve perry, I will glady make the exception as I have never had the pleasure of seeing him perform live. And his voice for me anyway, runs circles even now vs JBJ in his prime.

Moot point.

Because the pressure would be huge... Perry won't get on stage unless he can deliver something he'll be able to sing in place of the Journey songs everyone will want him to sing..... So until we get new music from Perry, it's a pretty for certain thing he's not gracing the stage again, and if he does, it won't be singing Journey songs..

Where do you live that Fleetwood Mac tickets are only $167? That won't get you a ticket in the nosebleed section for the Chicago concert. Cheapest tickets are over $200 here. Main floor are going for over $300 each. I'd love to go to that concert, but I sure as hell can't afford it.

Washington, DC show prices after service charges

$167.50
$93.70
$60.55

And the top ticket price covers about 80% of the arena, mid price are basically nosebleeds, and the low price are obstructed view.

Location is my problem. Most of my favorite bands are European, and low-profile groups even in their own home countries. Very few bother to tour the US. When they do, the tours are short and they don't gig much further northeast than Boston, and in some cases, no closer than New York City.

In addition, ProgPower is way too far away for my traveling expenses. Though the variety is usually good, it's a far cry from Wakken.

I have pretty much stopped going to concerts already. The prices are the main reason, but most of the bands I want to see don't come within a 3 hour drive of me. Frankly, I am just not all that interested in driving that far up and back to see any band nowadays.

I saw Iron Maiden this summer and that was it. There's nothing else that I can afford or have the desire to commit such a huge chunk of time getting to in order to see them play.
