"For the first time since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991, the same album finishes as the United States' best-seller for a second year. Adele's "21" triumphed in 2011 and ruled again in 2012.

The XL/Columbia Records effort finishes 2012 with 4.41 million sold. In 2011, the set moved 5.82 million. Earlier in 2012, it became the 21st album in the SoundScan era to sell 10 million copies..."

It just goes to show you how sad the record buying public really is. Who was 2nd & 3rd. Let me guess, Bieber & Swift?

I think putting Adele in the same category as Justin Bieber is flat out ridiculous! Arguing whether you're tired of her over-played, pop music is a different argument. That said, if you think this woman can't sing, you should probably have your ears checked out, immediately!

She's a helluva talented gal. Although was bummed when Bruno was up for all those grammys the same year they both debutted their albums. Oh well, I guess if he had to lose to somebody at least it was somebody with talent. Man he's a fresh breath of old school R&B these days. Love his stuff, talented little bugger, I would definitely go see a show of his if he tours. Sounds great in the live performances I've seen. His new album just came out, otherwise I'm sure it would have been in the top 10 albums as well.

Great to see ya back posting Don. Welcome back. 8)

Adele can sing but I can't fucking stand her voice, and I think her songs are really boring.

Wonder where the new Van Halen ranked.

I can't stand her voice, sure she can sing, millions upon millions can. Wether YOU like them or not is a different story. Who says Bieber can't sing?

Who says Swift can't? Sure they can but it's not my cup of vodka that's for sure and it will never tear us apart! Now John, you go to your hifi

system and put on that Adele, you know yo want to lol.

If you can't stand her singing voice, whatever you do, don't listen to her conversation voice. And the laugh........I'd rather listen to the testing of jet engines.

Still seems strange to me that 4-5 million sold is such high volume.
Things have really changed. In the late 70's and 80's the best selling
Albums were doing 2-3 times that number.
She is very talented, writes her own songs,
Was perfect for the Bond "Skyfall" theme
Not my style for repeated listening though..

ChickenStu wrote:Wow. Nothing against Adele - but THIS is the best selling album of all time? I don't get it. I mean, at least with Thriller you could see why. Doesn't come much better than that, I'm sure you'll agree.

I'm pretty sure that nowhere does it say that it's "the best selling album of all time". In fact, I'm not even sure that "Thriller" still holds that title. It may be The Eagles "Greatest Hits 1971-1975".
