I remember first hearing about the Petty/Nicks duet (Stop Dragging my Heart Around) when it was coming out and I thought, "it just had to be awful", but damn, that song kicked all kinds of ass. Ozzy and Lita were pretty damn good as well.

Of all the duets from that particular era, the one that's still my favorite is Henley/Smyth "Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough". Smyth delivers it with so much passion while Henley brings up the rear with outstanding harmonies and is sorta the counter to Smyth's raspy, aggressive delivery. Beautifully done.

Burlesque is the movie you're talking about. Didn't see it so I can't comment. I dunno.... I guess she's fairly talented given the success she's had and the staying power she's managed over the years. I've just never liked the "in your face" "watch how shocking I can be" kind of celebrity she is/was.
On Topic: Remember the first time you heard/saw the duet with Natalie Cole and her dad?!

That was pretty freakin' cool at the time. I mean NOBODY had done anything like that prior. It was eerie to some extent but the coolness and sentiment far outweighed any kind of creepiness.
