...Anyone want to weigh in on which teams benefit from a shortened season?

The ’95 season was a magnificent sprint to the finish. 48 games is a perfect amount, making each game a little more important. It should be great.

Teams that had players in other leagues I think, they will be in better shape. That's a general answer. As to specific teams, I think with a short season like this it is up in the air. Look at the last short season the Red Wings went all the way to the SC finals, yeah they got swept by the Devils but they also had the best record. I doubt that will happen this year, but you never know. I think all teams will be hitting their stride(s) just as the playoffs begin so it will be tough.

You know? That thing...with the ice...and the people who skate around with sticks? ...at least that's what the urban myths said anyway. Damned if I know what it is.

I dont know I had just managed to get interested in the Kontinental Hockey League (the russian one) and the American Hockey League (AHL) and had almost forgot about the NHL.

Short season means that players wont get beat up with injuries by the end of he year, but you wonder who will be sharp and who wont be. At least there will be some of the season to watch.

It's was all over greed on both sides as far as I'm concerned
and I refuse to watch or purchase anything NHL related this year.
I'm satisfied watching our Sons league twice a week.

This thread won't be a shadow of its former self without Dean.

That being said, as long as the Flyers don't win, I'm good.

I know, right? Hockey was one of the few topics where we could have a discussion without pissing on each other.

Did I read that correctly that the Bruins traded Tim Thomas to the Islanders? You think he'll be back next year or will he retire? The Isles always seem to be a goalie shy of being a contender every year, so they'll be interesting to watch in 2014 if he comes back.
