How much of a combination of stupidity and self-confidence does someone have to have to think stealing a plane and taking it for a ride is a good idea? Even if you WERE a trained pilot, stealing a plane and leaving the ground without notification and authorization is a federal offense! And it's not like if you were involved in a Chase" that you might stand a chase of "out-running" the authorities...
When I was a teenager prior to being of age to drive legally, I used to take my parents' cars out joyriding all the time. Got caught sometimes too. But, never once was there a concern about how or where I was going to land!!
Kids today....
