Okay, first off, is it possible for a virus to infilitrate a FLASH DRIVE? My laptop became infected with all kinds of crazy virus after I had just had my hard drive replaced. I thought I still had anti virus working, but did not.

SOOOO... I just got my laptop back from the shop. All was well. In the meantime, I also gave the shop by flash drive to scan because I believed it was also infected. MY WHOLE LIFE is on this flash drive. There are things backed up that are not on my laptop that I will never get back.... So anyway, I was told it was nearly impossible for a flash drive to become infected because viruses don't infect word docs, pics etc? They said they scanned it, all was well.

So I come home and pop in my flash drive because I have documents I was working on.... Within seconds, I gety a warning that my computer is INFECTED again!!!!!

Granted I have AVG free version right now becaise I am broke and unemployed... But still, I don't think they checked my flash drive because if they havd they would have spotted the infection IMMEDIATELY...

SO PISSED..... SO, IF MY FLASH DRIVE IS INFECTED, ARE MY DOCS DOOMED? I have my SILENT auction list, the most updated version that IS VERY, VERY LONG., WITH NO WAY OF REPLICATING becasue I don't ahve the paperwork. i JUST have the info that I popped in from long deleted emails...

Absolutely they can (and will) get infected.

I saw that. I am going to print it out and send it back along with my computer and flash drive. I just paid $75 I did not have. They can fix it.....

When I get it back, I will be updating my computer with paid virus, probably AVAST like Rick suggested.

I had paid AVG firewall, anti virus prior to my entire system crashing. When I took itthe comuter doofeses, I asked them point blank if I needed to reinistall after. They said they could image the harddrive and it would include my old protection. When I got it back, I looked and thought it was still there.

Later, after I started getting nasty infections, I realized I had the FREE AVG link scanneer and microsfot security essentials. Something the computer doofeses had put on there.

I tried looking up my old AVG acct, but couldn't find a record on their site. Maybe it just expired? All I know is, CAT MAMA is not happy....

The sack: I think God did me a favor

The check: God did me a bigger favor.

The cracked PC: Satan, X Computers, and AVG antiviru did it.

Now that I think about it, I have had the most issues using AVG anti virus, paid and unpaid versions. To boot, AVG cannot be installed once it is on your computer. I smeL SCAM.

Rick suggested using PERFECT UNINSTALLER. THANK YOU RICK! But I just read some reviews that it can removed good registry files in the process of removing what you don't want.

Sorry Rick, not not taking your advice... I will be using AVAST from here on out. I just rather have someone else do the removal of AVG as I am leary of detroying my computer.

Maybe he (God) does hate me???

Sorry about that. Here is a program from AVG themselves that removes AVG and ONLY AVG.

Not only does God hate me; he apparently hates Korea as I have had my Hyundai smashed twice. The first was totaled in 2009. Its replacement had its car hood run over by a backing transfer trailer.

Do you connect to the internet through a router, then modem (like this):

Or just through your modem?

A few benefits of a router:

1. Most routers have hardware-firewall which can be help filter things before they reach your software firewall. There is an obvious benefit to having your firewall separate from your PC.

2. Your router will let you connect multiple computers to one internet connection

3. You (or your guests) can wirelessly connect with a game-system, laptop, or USB wireless adapter

Just reformat your hard drive and ghost it all back. It only takes me a few minutes. Not bragging, but I don't believe I've ever had a virus in 18 years. You must watch a lot of porn or download a lot of warez.

No porn. Although, I think the kick off point was when I tried typing the web address for my hoa, camsmgmt. and accidentally typed cams.com which led to some rather scurious looking pictures, and a virus or 10,000 or so.
