The Illumaniti

I keep hearing about this thing about The Illumaniti and how it has to do with the coming NWO, and how certain figures in Hollywood are figures for this. Does anyone here believe it to be true? How maybe we're all being manipulated to keep our eyes away from the the wickedness that is going right in front of us?

No. I do believe in the New World Order. Whether the whole thing with the Illumanati is real, I don't know. I do believe there is a lot evil that masquerades as good. And I think as a society we are being slowly brainwashed into accepting certain things, the slow crumbling of our personal freedoms.

Don't worry, the mothership will come soon  and save us all :D

Seriously though, its addiction to stories and the way to break it is simple, recognise a story. The best ones don't start with once upon a time and have a happy ending, but they all have this in common..... a beginning, a middle and an end.

Don't worry ( beginning ) the mothership will come soon ( middle ) and save us all. - (ending )

Illuminati, New world order, brainwashing/manipulation and wickedness all around us are stories. :D

Ok, forget the jibes and ribs... what I speak are facts. There once was an organization called the Illuminati in Bavaria I think, a few hundred years ago. They were a secret group, and my guess is they probably weren't much 'elite' or influential than than any Masonic organization. I understand that the name 'Illuminati' has since been used by other groups, but I don't have direct knowledge of that. I believe strongly that there has never been any 'Illuminati' that has continued unbroken since the dark ages, existing today... that is nothing but (sometimes Christian) conspiracy theory. There definitely never was a 'New World Order', except for these guys:

Image

Now, do I believe in some conspiracies? I believe in the reality that people with money and power often put their interests ahead of the people below them as a matter of routine, and sometimes, sure... people conspire against one another. But the problem is the human race on that level is too selfish to every truly cooperate together for any length of time. They will eventually war against each other. Conspiracy theorists would have you believe that there is some group (like on 'X Files') that pull the strings behind every major global event. Dictators are selected and propped up in place by these guys, and wars are staged and waged by them. But please... let's be honest about this. Nobody has enough power or money to keep these crazies under control. And if you believe what's published about some of the world's richest people, many of them are dedicating a good portion of their wealth to helping fight things like hunger in third-world countries. Doesn't fit in with an 'Illuminati' type of image.

Now, on the smaller scale, people like you and I like to feel that we are in the know -- like we have special knowledge, and understand how the world really works. And there will always be someone who recognizes that and capitalizes on it. There's your conspiracy.

Image

Here's my honest advice... each of us, we might have on average 80 years of life on this speck of dust in space. ENJOY it... there are plenty enough things to be pissed off about or keep us stressed out and worried 100% of the time, or there are also plenty enough things to enjoy about the world we live in to be happy and reasonably satisfied a majority of the time. Choose the latter. Turn off Fox News, tune out the doomsday prophets, and go out and have a passionate affair. Create some great memories for you. :)

BTW, I remember reading a book when I was about 19 by a hot Christian comedian named Mike Warnke... he has such a fascinating tale about being lured into witchcraft and eventually coming in contact with the Illuminati, but it all turned out to be bullshit - he was a fraud, and just as much an opportunistic tool like supposed "former Satanist" Sean Sellers, who killed his family while they slept and realized that redemption stories were gold in America.

I think we all go through that stage (usually during adolescence) where we think normal reality is boring and we so want to believe in things like UFOs, Bigfoot, The Lochness monster, secret associations, etc just to feel more excited about our own general existence.

Carl Sagan has a great book that talks about a lot of this.

"For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."

My girlfriend has that very book on her bedside table right now. I should read it.

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by all of them... Bigfoot, Loch Ness, etc.... plus, ghosts, poltergeists, demons, tornadoes, and sharks. Basically, anything bigger than my experience, and somewhat intangible to me.

I hear you. I grew up thinking Rod Serling was an envoy for Satan; he narrated so many of those bizarre shows and was supposed to be the original host for "In Search Of" before his untimely death.

"IN SEARCH OF"!!!! Narrarated by Leonard Nimoy! Fuck, it's been years.... probably enjoyed those shows more than any of the imitators on TV these days.

I loved In Search Of. I understand what you mean. Growing up, I thought we'd all be dead by now.

I still do enjoy watching shows about Stonehenge and what not on PBS but those are more archaeological in nature and they do seem to try and leave the myth building to other media channels.

Great story telling, a beginning, middle and end.

"The universe as it is"....is This as it IS and any story you fancy can be attached to it. The big bang theory with its beginning middle and an end story, conspiracy theories/stories etc etc.( addiction to stories ) which is fine until they're believed in.

Get out of the story of ...... and what is HERE ?
