Prayer request...

I know this may be a strange place for this, but I need all the help I can get. My five year old niece fell down a flight of concrete steps yesterday and fractured her skull (severely). The doctors have her heavily sedated to prevent her from moving even while she sleeps. At this point they don't know what her prognosis is, and it'll take several days until they know the extent of the damage. It isn't looking good at this point though.
With that said... PLEASE send up prayers for my niece Gabby. She needs them right now.

Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you Steve, She is SURROUNDED by prayers from friends and family. I basically raised her father, so to me this makes it all the harder.

I love them very much. I pray that Gabby will make a full recovery!

Your prayers are definitely working! They just removed the device from Gabby's skull that monitors the pressure, and her swelling is going down. They're feeding her thru a tube right now, and she is definitely improving. Her fever is going down as well. She isn't out of the woods yet though, so please continue to pray for her and her family. Thank you very much.

That's terrible. Luckily she is young, the body is a terrific instrument at that age. It can survive so many things.

Keep us updated.
I have an eight year old daughter, seven year old son and we lived in the same building for years and outside our back door are the concrete steps that go down to the sidewalk and courtyard since we are on the second floor. It is the number one thing i don't like about this place and having to watch closely every time the kids run in and out to go play because they have no clue how dangerous those flight of steps can be if you accidentally slip or lose your footing.

Jim, so sorry to hear this, and am glad that things are getting better. Sounds like she has a great medical team taking care of her. Very grateful for that.

Thanks for the prayers everyone!! SHe is doing much better now, and may be moved into a regular room tomorrow out of ICU. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I've been out of town and in 3 states over the last several days. I believe the critical stage is over, and now she's going to be in rehabilitation for a while. She seems to have all of her memory, motor functions, and personality. She can't sit up though, and they say that's common for someone who's weak like she is and being in bed for several days. I was told that they had removed her feeding tube a couple of days ago, but that was incorrect. They are going to try taking it out tomorrow though, so that's awesome news!
Again, I really appreciate your prayers and thoughts for her. She is a very sweet little girl and is much loved. You all rock!!!

Been away for the past week and just saw this thread. So glad to hear she's on her way to a full recovery. So many times you read/hear about these kinds of injuries leaving the person with permanent damage/disabilities. There's a lot to be said for young, soft, still-growing bones. Going to stop by the church and light a candle for her and add her name to the prayer roll while I'm running a couple of errands this evening. All the best my brother.
Steve

Thanks everyone. SHe is now being sent to N.C. to go through rehabilitation. She's probably going to be there for a few weeks. She still can't sit up, and some of her motor skills need some help. She seems to be having slight memory issues too. She couldn't remember her favorite Disney character yesterday which has my wife concerned. She will recover though, and that's the important thing. Thanks so much for your help.
