In 1980, when I was 16, the old lady that lived across the street from us died and her kids came to settle her estate, get her house ready to sell, etc. One particular day, I walked home from school and saw this car sitting in her driveway. I didn't even know it existed - I'd never seen it. Apparently it had been in her garage for years. They rolled it out of the garage and put a For Sale sign on it. The tires were rotting off of it but other than that the car was immaculate - and only had 25,000 miles on it. The price: $500.00 !! I nearly had a stroke right there and then. By that evening I had begged and pleaded well enough to my parents that they loaned me the money to buy the car and put a set of Dunlop GT Qualifiers (remember those...?) and a set of American Racing 5-star rims on it. Wish I still had that car today. It was AWESOME!!! Too bad I was so young and soooooo dumb! Blew it up racing it. But, it was what I drove to prom.

I double dated with a friend of mine and he borrowed his grandmother's Cadillac. It was maybe not the coolest car out there, but that was an awesome night. That was my junior prom. Didn't get to attend my senior year.

1964 Lincoln Continental convertible with suicide doors Wimbledon white with a lipstick red leather interior and steering wheel. 8 track quad system playing Boston.

A white 1996 Chevrolet Corsica, in 2002 at my senior prom. Didn't go to my junior prom.

Interesting... no one has listed a limo or a van yet. And when I say "van" I'm talking about the very popular (back then) custom full-sized vans with the fold-away bed, carpet on the floor, walls and ceiling, stereo.... Behshad's entry is almost a van but.....

Quick side story:
Many years ago my wife and I drove up to Lake Geneva, WI from Chicago for the weekend. Awesome little town and super fun too! Anyway, when we were checking in at the hotel, we noticed lots of teenagers milling about and asked the guy at the desk what was going on. He told us the hotel was hosting the prom for some nearby school that evening. We must have looked disappointed by his answer because he immediately told us not to worry about the noise. The prom was for a school for the deaf!! True story.
