I watched this one tonight (i know loser right? ) Anyway i just can't believe it's
been 24 years since it's release and it still holds up as a classic flick. Anyone see this in the theater?
Would be cool if they re released it in 3D next year for the 25th anniversary.

For it's time, it was a great flick. It went down hill fast after that but the first movie was a big hit and a refreshing reboot compared to the Adam West series most of us had grown up with.

Yep, saw it in the theater. Definitely a cool movie for the time. It made bank at the box office, too.

Keaton's portrayal of Wayne as a troubled but awkwardly eccentric billionaire tempered Batman's perpetual one-dimensional personality (grim, grim, grim, grim, grim). It's a shame Nolan and Bale never quite grasped that.

I'll never forget my oldest brother coming in the doorway when I was a baby, stood there, smiled, and handed me the VHS cover of Batman '89. The Black cover with the huge Gold Bat logo. Nothing will top Keaton's Batman. 24 years later (I'm 25) and Batman is STILL one of my favorite movies of all time. Though Keaton may not be what Christopher Reeve was to Superman, he comes pretty damn close with Batman in my eyes.

I remember watching it on vhs for the first time when i was about 3ish. Was scared a little
i mean c'mon it's the joker for christ sake But i remember just being blown away by it.
Still has the same effect today.

GREAT movie. Done really well. I still love the Christian Bale trilogy, but the one with Keaton/Nicholson was so good.
Regarding Christopher Reeve... I always thought those Superman movies were like the 60s Batman series- Corny. Though I did like Superman II quite a bit if I recall.
I'm VERY psyched for the new Superman. Looks like they got it right by the previews.

I was 14 years old when this came out and i went and seen it and what i also remember is the huge blitz of merchandise at the time seemed like everyone owned either a hat or shirt with the batman logo.I also remember Prince having the huge hit Batdance.This movie was huge at that point in time.

I was obsessed with it when it hit the theater and I probably went and watched it 7 or 8 times! I also bought it as soon as it was out on video and probably watched it 50 times or so over the years. Lol!! GREAT movie. I loved Keaton's take on the role, and he's my favorite Batman. I like the new movies, but Bale's growling just can't compare to Keaton's performance. I will say though that Keaton's physical strength doesn't seem believable, but then again... is Batman believable? GREAT flick! The second one was fun to watch but doesn't hold up nearly as well as the original. 3 and 4 should have NEVER been made.

Can't believe we're on a music website, and no one has mentioned the soundtrack by Prince. It got a lot of airplay on Mtv.

I owned the soundtrack -- the instrumental score by Elfman, that is. I had that sucker on CASSETTE.

Prince's old stuff is cool but I didn't think he was a fit for Batman at all.

P.S. This is a rock website, not funk/soul/R&B (though those can be discussed). "Batdance" is not rock. Bat-MAAAAAAAN!!!
