How is it cost wise? You say they're expensive, but how much does it cost versus buying cigarettes?

How harsh is the inhale? I've got NJoy, and it kicks my ass every time I take a drag. That's the biggest deterrent for me, so if the Blu is smoother, I might have to invest in it. Lord knows I need to...my lungs are getting worse.

It's pretty smooth. I've heard that the Njoys maybe taste better, but don't last as long. I don't no. I just grabbed a couple of blucigs and I can't believe how much I like them and how in 2 days I've smoked less than ever. Now I wonder what this water vapor does to my lungs?

Definitely food for thought. My plan is to quit before NFL preseason. I hope much sooner, but at least I have a target. Starts earlier for me since we have the HOF game.

  When I saw "e-cigs" I immediately thought you meant buying cigs online - which I do. It saves a TON of money!! The company I use is based in Belgium and gets their products from all over the world. For instance, I smoke Marlboro Mediums and/or Pall Mall 100's. Bought locally they're around $60.00 a carton. Online I get them for less than half that. Now, there are a couple of drawbacks... it takes 2-3 weeks for delivery and the Marlboro's, although licensed and are legit, are a product of the Ukraine.... as in where the Chernobyl nuclear disaster happened...  My wife says I'm gonna start glowing any day now...

As for the e-cigs you're talking about, I dunno... one of the reasons I haven't quit - ever - is because I honestly enjoy smoking. I know, I know.... but it's the truth. I just don't see how e-cigs could possibly replace what I'm getting from the real thing. Don't get me wrong... If I could find a replacement for actual tobacco cigs that satisfies the way they do but was safe or safer than cigs, I'd be on it like a bad suit!

The bolded comment defines me and why I smoke. Unfortunately, my family doesn't share my view and I have no smokers to consort with. My neighbors don't smoke either, so I have to sneak around to do it. Also, at work, I think I'm the only guy in my department that smokes, although a couple of em chew, but I pretty much have to sneak around there too.

Growing up in northern Cal I had the grand fortune of being weaned on and always having access to Humboldt County's finest Indica. I spent the better part of the late 70's and most of the 80's very high. And this stuff was tremendous! The brightest neon green with brilliant purple hairs running up and down buds the length of your forearm. And shunkyyyyyyy...!! Damn! A couple of nicknames we had for it were, Helen Keller (more than 2 hits and you couldn't see, speak or hear - not correctly anyway. ) 2 Hit Wonder (for obvious reasons). Yeah, it was awesome.
Then.... sometime around '88 or '89, for some reason I started having a weird reaction to it. When I would smoke I would get super, uber-high - almost to the point of hallucinating and I would go on a big paranoia trip and sit at the end of the couch and talk to myself. About the 3rd or 4th time that happened I said, "I'm PAYING to feel like that?!?!"   Not anymore I'm not. So that was the end of that. And it didn't matter the quality or how much I smoked. It just fucked with me really bad so I gave it up and haven't touched it since.

I picked up the disposable ones at the corner store, they are 10 bucks. Supposedly a pack and a half or 400 puffs. I'm getting a good 300 or 400 puffs. I like the taste and it goes good with coffee and beer. :D Only 4 cigs today, normally 15 or more by now.

Great stuff mate... keep up the good work :D

I used to smoke from around 12-35yo and I loved it and basically decided to quit with my wife as prices were going up and also because I didn't want to continue the bad habit for my health. Seeing people with lung cancer is a real turn off and I don't want to die that way. I have been off them for around 10 years and hardly ever have a craving but If I was smoking still I would give the e-cigs a go for sure.

Thanks Rick. Good luck to the Mrs. Buy her a blu and see what she thinks, I can't believe how much I actually like them. I bought one pack of smokes last Monday and had 4 or 5 per day along with the blu e-cigs, on Friday when the Marlboros ran out I just decided to see how long I could go without the real ones and this morning I'm starting my 3rd day. :D

Congrats, man. :)

We all need to stop. Debbie (wife) had a situation about a month ago where her left leg went weak on her. It was just all of a sudden. She figured it was from her long ago back injury, but the results from her neurologist today says that she had a stroke.

I can't tell you how impressive this post is to me. My situation is almost the same as yours. Started smoking at around 16 and I'm now 48 and have never quit. Reading your post - a post from someone who I firmly believe knows the role cigarettes have come to play in a person's life after smoking for so long - is actually very inspiring and gives me hope that I actually can find a way of quitting that doesn't involve going through all the horror stories we've all heard from people who have decided to quit after decades of doing it, only to pick them up again due to the withdrawals, etc. I saw your post below stating 72 hours smoke-free, that's outstanding! Keep us posted, please.
I honestly can't remember not being a smoker or what that's like...

Thanks, Liam. I know you know.

And yes, FF, it was a small stroke. But she's still getting another opinion. Sometimes her leg has normal strength, which doesn't coincide with the symptoms of a stroke. This is her third doctor and second neurologist and is the only one that said it was a stroke. So we're hoping it's a misdiagnosis. She's seeing another neurologist next week. Either way and no matter the final diagnosis, we all need to stop smoking.

Fact finder, I thought there was a bug on my phone thanks to that sig.

As for the other cigs, I used vapor ones also. Mine were from Vapor 4 Life. I actually started with the 0 nicotine ones instead of weaning down because I knew for sure it was not the nicotine that was the problem, it was just the habit. It worked fine ANSI no longer have any interest in smoking and have become fully grossed out by it,actually.

Best of luck to all of you trying to quit out there. I smoked from 14 until I was 28 and was smoking a pack and a half of Marlboro Reds a day. I "tried" to quit several times, but until I TRULY wanted to quit, I couldn't. When I was finally sick enough of it, I quit. I used the patch for a couple of weeks and chewed a hell of a lot of chewing gum. I still do! lol. That's the only way I could quit, and the cravings went away after 3 or 4 weeks. It was really hard at first, but the patches work!

Britain to regulate e-cigarettes as medicine from 2016

LONDON | Wed Jun 12, 2013

(Reuters) - Britain is to regulate electronic cigarettes as non-prescription medicine from 2016 in an attempt to improve quality, though the country's drugs watchdog said they would still be sold in convenience stores.

Healthcare authorities around the world are grappling with how to deal with the battery-driven devices, which allow users to inhale nicotine-laced vapor and are increasingly popular as a less harmful alternative to smoking.

A few countries have banned them - such as Brazil, Norway and Singapore - while others are opting for varying degrees of regulation, in some cases including restrictions on advertising and curbs on their use in public places.

Under the new British system, manufacturers will have to prove the quality of their products and demonstrate that they deliver the correct amount of nicotine. But they will not need to conduct clinical trials.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said on Wednesday that existing e-cigarettes on the market were not good enough. However, manufacturers have time to raise their game and apply for a license, allowing them to sell regulated devices as over-the-counter products from 2016.

A growing number of established tobacco companies are investing in the e-cigarette market worldwide, including Lorillard, British American Tobacco, Imperial Tobacco, Reynolds American and Altria.

Interesting in the news this week was a bit about how the anit-tabacco groups, at least in the SF Bay Area, are attempting to push legislation on these e-cigs. They want e-cigs to be treated the same as traditional cigs where they are banned from being used in public places, 25 feet from business entrances, etc. What they are saying is, the fact that nicotine is used in them so they still posse as a health hazardous.
