I'm not a big Michael Jackson fan but found this interesting. His mother has brought a wrongful death suit against AEG Live and in the hearings regarding the suit, it has been stated that MJ had planned to lip sync some of songs, use auto cue to prompt the his lyrics and in some on-stage stunts use a "body double". I wonder if the defense attorneys for AEG are going to call Lou Ferrigno who was MJ's personal trainer for the tour. Lou had stated that MJ was in shape enough to be able to handle the performances.

This is just all about money. I'll bet MJ's mom will try and sue the plastic surgeons next.

There are videos out there of MJ in his PRIME lip-synching. Michael would sometimes put on good vocal performances, but everybody knows he was a choreograph type presence that was a perfectionist in how his overall performance of the show looked and sounded. The perfection in his voice came through the studio and his uncanny nature to produce hit record after hit record. Anybody who ever expected Michael to take the "This Is It" tour head on or even come remotely CLOSE to finish the thing was highly kidding themselves.

I really detest artists that lip sync to a vocal track when performing in concert. To me that is not what I am paying for for. If that is what I'm gonna get then I would rather stay home and listen to the album. It's a rip off.

I'd say he's done this for quite some time. I remember back in the very early 90's my mother was watching a live performance of his on HBO or something like that and he was running all over the place while "singing" and his vocals were exactly as good as on the reocrd, even though he was panting to catch his breath throughout the songs that he was "performing".

It's funny that back when the Journey T.G. was going on, people would ask, were you entertained? If so, then you have no reason complaining. It's not fair to lip sync a "Live" show. That's the whole idea behind the word LIVE, actually doing the song LIVE, not moving your lips to a recording. While it is entertainment, and sadly legal, it's not fair to dupe your fans, no matter who you are.

Would people be ok with Steve Perry going out on the road and lipping to prerecorded, fixed up tracks? I really doubt it. I'm very sure he'd never do it, because he values the fans opinions of him. People who DO lip synch in concert don't value their fans at all.

Not surprising, his children were nothing more then a vehicle for his ride to fame and fortune. Early on he tried to make it as a musician and failed.

Lip sync vocal tracks and auto tune are the worst inventions to come out of the music industry.

Mariah Carey, a judge of singers on American Idol, did just that. She lipped her last performance....THERE, of all places. AI is a joke!

She apparently blew out her vocal chords years ago, either to bad technique, smoking, or both. Such a shame. I don't understand how someone with that beautiful of a voice wouldn't guard it with their lives.

I don't care for her either...she turned a blind eye to all the beatings the kids got for not making dance steps perfect. They are both culpable for child abuse.

You cannot run and dance and sing perfectly...try running and singing sometime. But on the flip side I hear people gripe about Arnel singing this note or that note badly....it is live folks....not fake. You cannot have perfection at a live performance. I like it live and true. But don't expect extravagant dancing and perfection in singing or you will have a fixed performance. You cannot have it both ways. Those who whine about a messed up note or song should remember that.
