OK...

Went out on Sat, nite 10.5 for my Parent's 50th(!!) Anniversary;
we went out to a Hibachi Grill / "Performance" kinda Restaurant in New Haven....

....and apparently, they put Sake Rice Wine in what can only be described as a retro-50s "Drive In" Ketchup Dispenser,
and proceed to have you "drink from it"....as they squeeze it into your mouth.

:shock:

I've heard "urban legends" or whatever about "OMG SAKE!! IT'LL MESS YOU UP!!!" and stuff, so I declined the first round,
because I really don't drink anything anymore, except Red Wine...

.but then, I caved....figured "what the hell?"

Had a tiny shot....and I"m sorry, but it tasted like an almond / vanilla flavored coffee flavoring to me.....
...and it really was NOT that potent.

So...what's the deal with this stuff?

You have the floor...

Never know what they may have mixed in with whatever it is you drank. Probably something custom, much like all Japanese restaurants in America seem to always have their own special custom-made "house" dressing which they refuse to tell you what the "secret" ingredient(s) is/are. The only sake I consume is while in Japan and only served hot, and tasted nothing at all like what you have described. Sorry I couldn't help you out there.
