Punk-poet, rock legend Lou Reed dies at age 71

Saw this yesterday and immediately flashed back to the first time I heard, "...and the colored girls go, doo-da-doo-da-doo..."
He definitely played by HIS rules and in some respects was far ahead of his time with regard to the subject matter of his songs. Didn't know many of his tunes but the few I did, I liked.
