I've always held the belief that NFL, College football, or any other sport thats on the national level is fixed. Las Vegas wouldn't even exist if they weren't. How many times is the line wrong in vegas? Not fucking many at all. I first came to the realization that sports are fixed when Sugar Ray Leonard comes out of a 5 year retirement and beats up Marvelous Marvin Hagler and then Hagler retires to a life of luxury in Monaco. When you bet against Vegas you might win some of the time, but most of the time, your the loser in the game of life.

Funny you mention that particular fight. I've loved boxing since I was like 6 years old, and starting watching fights at a very early age. I made a bet with a friend of mine on that particular Leonard/Hagler fight. I took Leonard, and my friend gave me 3/1 odds on $5. I was around 14 or 15 years old, I think, at that time?

The thing is, it's not just the mafia that rig games anymore. it's the leagues themselves that do it. Although, I'm sure the mafia works with team owners.

Art Rooney got his start through mob-ties. And other NFL owners like Timothy J Mara, Art Modell and others are known to have had mob-ties.

Yeah, I read them all and have ran across 2 of them while I searched the subject some time ago. And I loved Boxing when I was growing up also. The Heavyweight division with Ali, Frazier, Norton, Forman, Holmes. Jimmy Ellis, Ernie Shavers to name a few. Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello who's battles with Aaron Pryor were off the chain, started their careers in the 70's along with Bob Foster who was the light-heavyweight champ for some time. Those were the days when the big fights were nationally televised and you seen them live, FOR FREE, not having to pay $49.99 0r $59.99 to watch a fight now, fucking unreal. I really loved the sport and the great fighters of that era and into the early 80's as well. But when the Leonard vs Hagler came and went, I stopped watching and never have watched a fight since. By the way, one of best moments in sports (along with the Miracle on Ice), was the 1976 U.S. Olympic Boxing team that had Leon & Michael Spinks, Howard Davis jr., Leo Randolph and none other than Sugar Ray Leonard. I remember vividly when Leon Spinks fought the cuban fighter Sixto Soria. Man, Soria was pounding the shit out of Spinks until Spinks threw that overhand right out of nowhere and KNOCKED that fucker out cold. Man oh man, what a fight.
