I ship out to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for Army Basic Training in about 3 weeks. How should I spend my last few weeks of "life?" (Other than working out non-stop!)

I have 9 weeks of Basic Training and then 5 months of Advanced Individual Training, so I'll have some free time afterwards in November.

I went to Ft "Lost In the Woods" just for some in processing stuff the second time I went into the Army. That was a REALLY long time ago (early 80s), so Im sure a lot has changed. Where are you going for your AIT? What is your MOS? I was a MP for almost 15 years before they gave me a early out option when they were doing cutbacks. Good Luck & Thanks For Serving!!

My MOS is 35Mand I'm going to Ft. Huachuca for AIT. I haven't decided yet if I want to try to stay in for the long haul or do a term and get out. Suppose I won't know that until I'm actually in and see what it's like

I'm not sure which is a bigger decision- enlisting or going black! You can come back from enlisting, but once you go black, you never go back.

Arch, I know I am way late reading this, but I hope all is going well with you. I lived for 3 years at Ft. Lost in the Woods Misery. LOL Or so we called it. When we lived there in the 90's not much to see. You had to drive 20 miles to get a decent restaurant. I hear things have changed somewhat. My ex was an army guy. Note the word EX. LOL I was divorced in FT. Lost in the Woods, Misery. So I have to say my memories there were good and bad. Good because I had one of the best friends I ever had in my life lived right next door to me. Bad because I discovered my husband of 15 years had cheated on me with everything that was willing or moved during the ENTIRE duration of our marriage. Don't be one of those military guys.
