Apparently, they have not changed security measures at this location to prevent the same type of event from occurring. Personally, I think it's a bad move to not allow military personnel to carry a firearm while on base. To me this would at least increase the possibility of reducing the carnage one could do in this type of attack.

I'm not sure Boomchild. Given the number of mentally unstable people in the military due to whatever reasons, PTSD or whatever, increasing guns on base is going to increase the likelihood that one of these mentally unstable people is going to be armed, as well. I'm guessing we'd see an increase in this type of event, not a decrease, although the body count may decrease...

Who the f knows how to solve this problem? It's a tough one, to be sure.

Gun control sounds so contrary to some but keeping guns out of the hands of mentally unstable people doesn't seem like an unreasonable control. How, how, how... First step is getting everyone on board that SOME gun control is in order. Good luck with that one :)

Obviously you don't want mentally unstable military personnel be allowed to carry any firearm. So testing should be done to clear them. Regardless, it seems the government did very little or took the wrong approach to better secure this installation against the same type event that happened a short time ago. I heard a report today that the guy that did the recent shooting spree was able to drive around the base and make random shootings in multiple locations. To me that's just nuts based on what happened before at this location.
