Just got back from seeing the midnight showing.

What a great movie. 2+ hours that seemed like half that time. Great story, great characters topped off with a great epitaph on a tombstone. I don't know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy, I just hope it does well in continuing Marvel's storyline til the next big blockbuster.

Cool. I'm looking forward to it when it comes out on dvd.

Most anticipated movie of the spring/summer for me, I think. Couldn't see it this weekend but definitely on tap for next weekend. Only hearing rave reviews from fans of the Marvel movies so far...

I saw CA:TWS on Saturday night.

KILLER movie. The Russos direct action better than Whedon. I liked this movie better than Avengers, too, because it's not just a "big fun battle movie." The cast is great and Samuel J. got more to do and Redford was awesome.

This movie blew Thor: The Dark World away. Blew. It. Away. It also blew away Iron Man 2 & 3, easily.

So, when you say "it's not just a big fun battle movie", are you actually saying Steve Rogers is having anxiety attacks and night sweats related to Tony Starks PMS in IM3? If it blew The Dark World away then that's saying something. In my book, Thor the dark world was the best of the bunch so far. By the way, Watched Superman again on HBO (got a free preview this past weekend). I love it when chicks are bad ass's.

Checking it out this weekend. It was filmed here in Cleveland, with a week's worth of filming taking place literally right outside my office. I watched several cars explode and get shot up from my office window. Pretty cool stuff.

Watched Thor:TDW the other weekend finally with my girl (who likes Marvel movies) and even she thought it was a downright mess. That shit was all over the place and I personally kept looking at my watch begging for it to end. I swore if Kat Dennings made yet another awkward, pointless joke, I was going to take the disc out, carve it up and throw it into the trash.

Thankfully, by that time, Loki (who is AWESOME) was on the screen so he saved that moment from happening. Unfortunately, Loki's role, though important, was small. Thor's a downright idiot, too. That movie in all intents and purpose's, SUCKED.

After being sick of Marvel, I will say, however, that TWS is the real deal and certainly has a different concept to it as far as style and tone is concerned. The action sequences look BADASS. Personally, I'm highly looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 more and will wait for Cap:TWS on Blu-Ray but I've heard nothing but high praise for TWS and I certainly believe it.

As "divisive" as MoS was, it did a KILLING with its Blu-Ray sales, is the 3rd highest grossing units sold in 2013 behind only Despicable Me 2 and The Hobbit: AUJ. Ranks #1 in superhero movies in its respective genre, blowing away Iron Man 3 and The Wolverine by a large margin. Good thing TWS lives up to its expectations because Thor: TDW, Iron Man 2/3 were snoozefests.

Malekith wasn't developed enough beyond having a beef with the Asgardians, and the climactic battle looked better on the page than onscreen. The Dark Elves ran around like dogs chasing cats. The Jane-Thor-Sif love triangle that was played up in the trailer and pre-release hype was nonexistent.

Kurse was awesome, though. He's easily the single best thing about the entire film, and he pretty much kicked Thor's ass, too. He should have been in the final battle, but the way they offed him was an effective one. The ONLY way to get rid of him, that is.

The Wolverine came and went. I heard a lot of people were disappointed with that film, but it still made money because they spent a lot less (IIRC) to make it than XMO: Wolverine.

OTOH, I have heard and read very little negative feedback on TWS and no bashing whatsoever. That's pretty astonishing. Notice that the third movie is slated to open against MoS2, but Thor 3 isn't even written yet (or is it?).

I think having the two movies open against each other is sofuckingstoopid. First of all, a trailer that shows Superman and Batman in the same frame is going to suction in ticket money like a black hole in outer space. Cap 3 WILL make money that weekend, probably a lot because it will come after Avengers: Age of Ultron, but MoS2 will gross more the first weekend and overall, unless it turns out to be a really bad movie.

Kat Dennings role in Thor:TDW did the impossible. Instead of glaring endlessly and disturbingly focusing on her huge rack, the usual, all I wanted to do was strangle her. Literally, wanted to choke her out. With a rack like that, I never thought that would be possible. Mission accomplished, Marvel.

Oh, trust me, I believe it. As soon as I saw footage and the trailers, I instantly propped up and immediately had a sense of things sticking out to me in what was missing in other Marvel films. I got the sense that this is the exact type of movie I look for in superhero films. Unfortunately, I have to save up a bit on money, I'm picking TASM2 for my theater experience. I know TWS is the real deal, but for me personally, HIGHLY looking forward to TASM2. It looks AMAZEBALLS!

Love the tone, color and concept of world building they got going on in this franchise. The Electro-battle looks to take it up a notch and the first hand visual of swinging with Spidey reminds me of that Go-Cam Supes vid a week or so ago. Love the entire look of TASM2 and the entire direction is what I personally connect to to get me to spend $20. But make no mistake, TWS is going to be BA on Blu-Ray.

Superman/Batman is iconic and that day in 2016 will be industry changing. Historic. The two greatest superhero's to ever exist and be created. The comic-book industry will shift on another seismic-related tremor that day and worlds will realign, that's how big this goddamn movie with Superman/Batman is going to be, with the inclusion of Wondy of course bringing it over the edge in what will probably be excitement turret syndrome with fanboys all around the world.

I'm sure Cap 3 is going to be great and it will do big at the BO in its own right, but still, Cap is going to get suffocated and BURIED. Marvel can put hundreds of characters on screen together and nothing will compare to a Supes/Bats staredown. It's literally THEE dream match. Supes/Bats, in one film, will close the gap and accomplish what Marvel took multiple films and years to do, that's how big this could be. One will probably move by 2016, but as of now, looks like WB is not budging.

We haven't even seen the suit reveals yet and it's coming soon...very soon. Affleck and Gadot have joined Cavill in Detroit today and principle shooting will start May 19th, so expect the suit reveal soon. It hasn't hit people yet, but the moment Supes/Bats is standing next to each other, it will be a surreal fucking, "LETS DO THIS" feeling, followed by numerous faintings.

Ohno, not Rotten Tomatoes. Can't take that place serious when the executive of Rotten Tomatoes laughed out loud at her own critics when they panned Man of Steel for not being a Christopher Reeve Superman movie.

Critics scored Man of Steel in the 7/10 range, good overall ratings, but labeled a rotten tomato-meter because of Zack Snyder's polarinzing style (which I love. It's always a good thing when someone doesn't follow the crowd and like mediocre, wise-cracking superhero movies like everybody else )

If you want to talk majority/minority in what fans really think, not just the vocal crowds or the critics who were called out by their own boss, a site like IMDb is a more accurate assessment of how an audience liked a movie, and according to that site, MoS was voted #1:



Another telling fact is how Blu-Ray/DVD units sell and MoS crushed its comic book competitors and ranked the #3 most sold units only behind Despicable Me 2 and The Hobbit: AUJ. Pretty damn good for a controversial and divisive reboot of Superman.



Without a sequel boost, without an Avengers boost, without an Robert Downey JR boost, without critical success, with divisive reviews and with coming off of horseshit in 2006 SR, Man of Steel, as panned as it was and in a now Marvel/Batman world, still outsold Thor & Cap on their own with their boosts.

Captain America is going to get buried to all hell in 2016 when going up against an industrial earthquake that will be known as Superman/Batman (or whatever the hell it's going to be called.) What took Marvel multiple movies and years to accomplish and be proud of, WB/DC will close that wide gap with one single movie.

Man of Steel wasn't meant to be the perfectly choreographed fight scenes or take the easy way out, hence, the hiring of Zack Snyder. It was meant to be controversial and by the look of things, it did its job. Have another wise-crack, Marvel fans. More power to yah!

Don't underestimate the power of competition. Even with critics panning MoS, 50/50 reviews and a huge second week drop, it still almost managed $700 mil for a Superman reboot not starring Chris Reeve.

No arguing that. MoS was bookended by two, nay, three other potential blockbusters and still came out swinging.

So the fact that she was surprised that the movie was panned negates the fact that it indeed in fact was panned? I'm sure their only beef with the film was Reeve's absence! Funny.

I loved this movie! Much better IMHO than the 1st. I would put it right up there with the Avengers and there were some cool twists. I can't WAIT for the 2nd Spider Man but I'm afraid they're going to screw that up with too many villains. Guess we'll see soon enough. The next few years are going to be amazing for superhero fans. TONS of new promising movies coming out!

IMDB is THE go-to site for movie feedback and stats.

I can't get too excited about movie Spidey V 2.0. I'll still see this movie but maybe as a matinee. Definitely not throwing $14 into it.

EDIT: not getting wood over GOTG, either.

Yeah, I think ASM2 will suffer from too many new characters introduced in a film. Even though Rhino is only supposed to be in it for 5-10 minutes. It was a big fault of SM3 too, I hate Sony Pictures for forcing Raimi to include Venom in that film and ultimately killing his series of films. I still think my favorite superhero movie was SM2, they focused and nailed Doc Ock, and Spidey sacrificing his own happiness to live with his responsibilities. (When he lowered MJ to go back with her fiance, took a last look and went web-slinging into the night) So true to the comics.

I'm beginning to think YJ likes nothing but Batman & Superman. A superhero movie doesn't need a perfect fucking plot, sub-plot, theme, or story line. What it needs is ass-kicking & name-taking. Thor TDW had every character involved & shown in one way or another that had to do with Asgard. Did Batman? Fuck no? Superman? No, and that bitch who was cast as Lois Lane took that movie down a notch for me, although I throughly enjoyed it as I did The Dark Knight. I take them for mindless entertainment that they are and the joy I took from reading comics as a kid. You can only do so much with any movie with the budget your given. The worst one though was Iron Man 3. I will never watch that again unless someones pointing a gun at me.

Not sure what you meant about other characters not doing some ass-kicking in Nolan's trilogy when even Gordon gets his hands dirty. Selina Kyle did plenty, too. Remember, it wasn't a shared universe like the MCU.

You must have missed my posts of absolutely loving the new Amazing Spider-Man and how I'm highly anticipating TASM2 (obviously I'm not a crowd follower, most fans hated TASM), so much, that I'm willing to wait for Winter Soldier (which I have said numerous times that I KNOW HOW AWESOME IT IS) on Blu-Ray when it comes out.

I loved the original Iron Man and thought The Wolverine had some of the best superhero scenes within the last few years.

I was also sick and tired of the non-stop X-series that has been going on since 2000, but again, admitted that the trailer to Days of Future's Past is pulling me back in and how I'm excited for that.

Green Lantern was big pile of steaming hot diarrhea and I'm a DC guy.

I go crazy for Man of Steel because it was the Superman movie I've been dying for my entire life after years of doing nothing but squat over Superman Return's chest. It's actually nice to be on the other side and every chance I get, I will be in Man of Steel's corner.

A superhero movie doesn't need a perfect fucking plot, sub-plot, theme, or story line. What it needs is ass-kicking & name-taking.

I'm with you, dude, which is EXACTLY why I will always defend Man of Steel. Sure Man of Steel had a ton of action (crazy coming from a character who first appeared in ACTION COMICS, I know) but I think it had a lot of good heartfelt moments and crazy plot details that people fail to see the meaning of.

Thor:TDW is to me what Iron Man 3 was to you. Nobody is going to make me watch that shit again, even if there was a gun to my head.

Did Batman? Fuck no? Superman? No,

"it wasn't a shared universe like the MCU" and Man of Steel was an origin reboot, but DID have some Easter Eggs, hence, SupermanVSBatman. Moving forward, now it will be a shared Man of Steel/ DCUniverse.

I throughly enjoyed it as I did The Dark Knight.

CBM just put out a review the other day, saying TASM2 is the Batman & Robin to the TASM movie franchise. That's about the biggest insult anybody can give for ANY movie, let alone a superhero movie and I just laughed my ass off because there's no humanly possible way that could be true. AT ALL. CA:TFA is the best of those, IMO. The first Thor is thor-oughly entertaining, and IM2 had its moments. TDW could have been a lot better, especially if it had more Sif (sproiiing!), but just to see Kurse come to life was a gas. Anything from Walt Simonson's legendary run is awesome.

IM3 is a fucking irredeemable wreck. Even with its all-action third act, I was still glad when it was over.

P.S. Not sure if you watch Agents of SHIELD every week, but that show has really gone from "just okay" to becoming a fairly badass show, especially in the wake of Cap2. Last month Sif was a guest character (in pursuit of Lorelei, who had escaped her Asgardian prison). The episode wasn't amazing, but Jaimie nevertheless impressed what a great Wonder Woman she'd make.

CA:TFA is the best of those, IMO. The first Thor is thor-oughly entertaining, and IM2 had its moments. TDW could have been a lot better, especially if it had more Sif (sproiiing!), but just to see Kurse come to life was a gas. Anything from Walt Simonson's legendary run is awesome.

I liked Cap: TFA and Thor. I think they served their purpose in buildup to the Avengers, but they were still average-good movies with way more story to tell and they fell flat because of the build to an Avengers tie in.

I'd rate Cap and Thor an enjoyable 7/10, TFA being more boring of the bunch but still a nice canon to the comics but whoever was saying Thor:TDW was without a doubt a much better film than its predecessor and me believing in that was a total letdown. For that movie to make just as much as Man of Steel is fucking baffling to me, but this audience is pro-Marvel and Avengers at the moment so it's to no surprise.

P.S. Not sure if you watch Agents of SHIELD every week, but that show has really gone from "just okay" to becoming a fairly badass show, especially in the wake of Cap2. Last month Sif was a guest character (in pursuit of Lorelei, who had escaped her Asgardian prison). The episode wasn't amazing, but Jaimie nevertheless impressed what a great Wonder Woman she'd make.

I haven't. I've even been trying to get into Arrow and I just can't get into a television series. I only watched a few episodes of Smallville in its day and couldn't stomach Welling and a dramatized Superman soap-opera with 10+ years of origin either, but that's more of not being able to commit to a television show every week, even with my favorite shows that I love. I'll give it a shot and try to tune in, but AOS never interested me in the first place so it'll be tough to hold an attention span, especially it being featured heavily in TWS.

As for Jamie Alexander, she has a good look for sure and would have made an amazing Wondy, but the Wonder Woman franchise should start with a fresh new face and give an unknown to make Wonder Woman hers and Wondy deserves that. I know Gal Gadot is intense enough to pull it off. Lets hope she does.

..when the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Man of Steel take huge liberties and are still so often praised, it would be almost hypocritical to spend this review whining about such issues as Uncle Ben being turned into an irrelevent afterthought or Norman Osborn's single (but memorable scene). I suppose the main difference is that those films still told a coherent and enjoyable story despite such fanboy niggles, whereas The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is simply a bad movie.
