Before Diamond Dave was...

I just discovered Black Oak Arkansas and was stunned to see how much David Lee Roth is like their singer Jim Dandy. The low throaty singing style, the stage moves and attire, even the DLR squeal....wow! David really took his whole act from this guy. I think David sounds better and does it better for sure, but a bit of a let down to see how unoriginal he actually is. I had no idea!

Nothing new. Dave has even said he took Jim Dandy's stage persona and ran with it.

Sure was new to me. Well, I still like him, but just a little let down.

K.C.Journey Fan wrote:I saw them in 1973,FF. Opened the show with "Lord Have Merecy On My Soul". "I walked through the halls of Karma. I shook hands with both the devil and God". Outstanding show with Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. Myself, I thought Jim Mangam was a better singer then Dave. Did a little research a few months ago and saw Black Oak Arkansas still plays from time to time.

Yeah they do. But father time hasn't been good to Jim Mangam.
