Tommy's a good singer but becoming a Brad clone with the hair and beard earns him the creep of the century award. There was nothing wrong with just being the average Joe singing with the band in 2008 and he sang great.

I think The Who did the same thing with Keith Moon at the Hurricane Sandy benefit concert.

Sholtz lost all credibility when he hired an unknown average guitar player (who didn't know how to play bass) be their new bassist.
And even more, let her sing a terrible country song on their album.

So is Tommy's whole look Tom Scholz's idea? I think the guy sings the stuff very well- and it is VERY HARD stuff to sing, but yeah, the taking on of Delp's whole look is very strange. I'm sure if you asked him, he'd say it's not intentional. MAYBE it's not, but a lot of fans are taking it as a planned thing or a wannabe thing and it's really odd. He'd be wise to get a new look. The other thing, and I've not seen the current version, Michael Sweet does NOT fit into Boston. Great singer, but not in Boston. Let Tommy sing all the tunes. As for the gal bass player- is she nailing the bass parts or is she missing them? Those parts are also NOT easy parts and super tough to sing over. If she's hitting the parts, no problem. But the country song... yeah, that's not "Boston" to anyone but I guess them. One more thing... The mixing and the drums on the new album are so so soooooo below par. I just can't listen to it.

Unfortunately, Scholz took the Boston sound too far on the latest album. That album was so bad that I can't even name one song from it. "Corporate America" wasn't much better. I actually loved all of their first four albums, including "Walk On", the title track to which I think is one of their all-time best tunes.

When I heard Corporate American I just thought it was terrible. Then I heard the new one...

Michael Sweet left Boston in August 2011, replaced by tribute band guy David Victor. I think the creepy look is Tommy's idea. If it were my band and a replacement walked in looking like that I'd make him change the look. I usually go see Boston and was thinking about it today. But between the horrible new album, the creepy clone and hiring David Victor, I don't think I want to go. David Victor left a Boston tribute which then broke up because he didn't want to do anything more than the radio hits. It's pretty ironic he's in the band now.
