AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd Accused of Murder-for-Hire Try

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/ac-dc ... ry-n242441

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The 60-year-old drummer for Australian rock band AC/DC was accused Thursday of trying to arrange two killings as well as possession of drugs. Phil Rudd made a brief appearance at the Tauranga District Court in his adopted home of New Zealand and was charged with attempting to "procure murder," which carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.

He was released on bail. One of the conditions is that he must not have any contact with anyone involved in the alleged plot. The Bay of Plenty Times newspaper reported that the Australian-born Rudd was accused of trying to hire a hit man to carry out the two killings. Rudd and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 in Cleveland. AC/DC's hits include "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "Highway to Hell." The band was due to release the "Rock or Bust" album next month and had planned a world tour next year. It was unclear whether Thursday's events would affect those plans.

Sad cause this was a really cool band, little before my time but I did enjoy listening to their music after the fact so to speak. We don't really have any specific details yet so we can't really tell what is going on with this situation. Only thing I can say is he may have went down the wrong path at some point because of maybe the wrong people he was hanging out with or whatnot. Bad influences and poor choices can end in such situations. Regardless, still one of my most favorite bands from one of my favorite countries I've visited countless times.

“We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album ‘Rock or Bust‘ and upcoming tour next year.”

But how will they EVER replace him?

"...and Chris (Slade) breaks out into his happy dance!"

AC/DC has commented on the arrest of the band's drummer, Phil Rudd, by New Zealand police on charges of attempting to arrange a murder.

Said the group in a statement: "We've only become aware of Phil's arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil's absence will not affect the release of our new album, 'Rock Or Bust', and upcoming tour next year."

Looks like they already have a drummer in place. I think they should get this guy back:

They could also get Simon Wright back unless the poor guy is still obligated to keeping time for Geoff Tater Tot.

Cheap or not, Phil appears to be on the highway to hell.

If this is as bad as it looks at first blush, he may indeed have the biggest b@lls of them all... :D

I just hope he doesn't try a Jailbreak! Because if he does they might Shoot To Thrill.

Before Phil consulted that hitman, he might have been consulting his collection of long knives.

Well, he just needs to keep a Stiff Upper Lip.

I guess the song "Guns for Hire" is too obvious. Ha ha.

In any case, it sounds like he was a real Problem Child.

All these jokes at Phil's expense when he shook all night long (from withdrawals).

Looks like the charges have been dropped:

http://www.skynews.com.au/news/top-stor ... opped.html

The lawyer for AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd says that the charge of attempting to procure a murder has been withdrawn.

In a press release Paul Mabey QC said: 'I was advised by the (Tauranga) Crown Solicitor, (Greg) Hollister-Jones, that he had reviewed the police file and the available evidence to support the charge of attempting to procure murder.

'He had formed the view that there was insufficient evidence to justify that charge. He has now withdrawn the charge.'

A spokeswoman for Mr Hollister-Jones confirmed the procuring charge had been withdrawn.

Apparently the only evidence against him was that they had phone records of him ringing 362436
