Geoff Tate's new band...

Sounds as bad as Operation Mindcrime 2 or Frequency Unknown. I'll give it a listen, but have no realistic expectation of it being anything but crap.

Phew. Sounds about as uninspiring as FU and anything else he did with QR from 2000-present.

Seriously, is that Trent Reznor at 3:13? No way is that Geoff singing.

I've heard some samples. I consider it verifiable proof that the Queensryche name was awarded to who it belonged to. Really looking forward to their upcoming album w/Todd La Torre on vocals.

There's already an album with Todd on lead vocals. I assume you know, but just in case...

This October, called Condition Human.

Here's the first song, "Arrow of Time." This already smokes anything on 2013's Queensryche. I was hoping they'd kick it up a notch. Seems like they have.

Didn't know they announced the title. Cool. As for the track...I dig it. Reminds me somewhat of Spore from the 2013 cd.

Another video from Tate's "Operation:Mindcrime." Wish I understand Frontiers logic with this release. As with Frequency Unknown, its seems Tate rushed into the studio mainly to have something to release to compete with Queensryche's new cd. As for the song...eh, it's not really inspired. Typical Tate monotone grunge-lite rock.

After listening to both tunes, I think they are both pretty darn good. I prefer the queensryche one a bit more because it sounds like vintage ryche, but the OM tune is better than I expected.

I hate to admit it, but even tho I know "Arrow of Time" is the far superior song, both of the Geoff tunes are catchy in their own way.

New Queensryche. Far superior than Tate's crap. Ever since Tate was fired, Rockefield's drums are back at the forefront. Monster player.

"Guardian" and "Arrow of Time" are already better than any of the songs on Queensryche a couple years ago. I had wondered if they were going to step it up and it sounds like they have. Can't wait to hear the whole album. Geoff can't even catch up at this point.

Anybody buy Tate's new album? I was surprised to find it at Walmart and other big box stores. Frontiers seems to have given this a bigger push than some other albums, including TOTO. Very very odd. Given how poorly Frequency Unknown performed, I am shocked that Frontiers would even sign Geoff up. Some critics say it is actually decent. Waiting to read Andrew's review.

Not me. I didn't even know it was at Walfart. No doubt copies will show up in the $3 bin at my local indie shop soon enough.

Andrew's review on MR homepage. 45%! Ouch. That settles it. "Re-inventing the Future" is a good song, but the rest of the singles have been the same monotone grundge-lite shit that drove Queensryche into the ground.

Eddie Trunk's latest podcast is up. Todd La Torre is his guest (by phone from SoCal).

You get the new Ryche album? I think the self-titled release was better. The sequencing on Condition Human needs tweaking. 3 epic rockers to start off the cd and then a mid section with too many songs that sound samey (Hourglass, especially, sounds like Frequency Unknown-type generic metal filler). Two more great rock tracks close out the album. Also, on the tune "Just Us", Wilton is playing the same riff as "Last Night on Paris" from Empire. Love the production, love the mixing. Expected a new classic, but CH falls just a little short.

Didn't get it yet. I hope to pick it up this week. I don't like a long midsection with too much sameyness. The last album to do that to me was Snakes & Arrows by Rush.

Thanks for posting. Not surprised it sucks. Why would Frontiers agree to a 3-cd deal with Tate?

No idea. Maybe they thought they'd get something better than what they did?
