I have seen Kansas close to 10 times. Saw them with Ronnie Platt back in October and they were fantastic. I had been following Ronnie on YouTube for years with his cover band, ARRA and became a huge fan of his as a result.

Got to see them a week ago Friday at the San Diego County fair in Del Mar, CA. I have seen the band MANY times; this was the first without Steve Walsh out front. Ronnie did a fantastic job, and It was my great pleasure to tell him so backstage after the concert (epic photo bomb courtesy of the band's keyboardist, David Manion).

So, AR...how was the show?

Here's another pic from backstage in Del Mar on July 3rd, with guitarist Rich Williams:

Was sad to see Walsh go, but Platt does a very good job.Might just have to them if they swing by if not only for this deep cut I love.

The show was outstanding! Finally got to here one of my favorite Kansas songs performed live - What's On My Mind? I don't recall having ever heard them doing that with Steve Walsh in the times that I've seen them going back to my first show back on the Power tour.

Platt was great on vocals. Really impressed that someone his age (52) would able able to sing these songs that way. He really fits the band well. As easy a transition as to be expected and it works out well since Walsh wanted to reture anyway rather than record a new album which they did announce they would be doing.

Can't find any videos from the Baltimore show, but the band posted a picture on their facebook page. Didn't expect the upper tier of Rams Head Live (the club they played) to be open. A lot more people there on Friday than I expected.

And here is a pre-show shot of the stage from my cellphone. I tend not to take pictures or shoot video from shows too often. Would rather just enjoy the moment while I am there.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Not surprised by how well Ronnie is fitting in, If you pull up old ArrA shows I think
You would agree his voice is more suited for Kansas now compared to his younger years of doing Journey, Boston
Triumph and Rush material. I think he will rejuvenate these guys. He comes with a ton of experience and has played
With very good musicians ( ArrA was very very good)

Same here, AR...definitely one of my favorite tracks from the Leftoverture album. I love the guitar solo in it...has a sort of Robin Trower feel to it.

Is a new album going to happen? That would be cool.

Well they have hinted its a possibility. I would be very interested to hear what they could do.

The band said on stage they are working on new music.

Rumor has it Walsh didn't want to record anymore which had at least something to do with his stepping down.

I'm sure the replacement singer is cool, and all. But wasn't Steinhardt available? Knows the catalog better than anyone not named Walsh.

2/5 of the original lineup dies not a band make. Just like with Journey and Styx, people are more concerned that these bands are still slogging their way across the country - and WAY less about the quality of the product. Just my opinion...

Steinhardt couldn't have sung Walsh's vocals even when he was young much less now that he's in his 60s. Steinhardt's voice sounded haggard even just several years ago the last time he was in the band. No way he could pull it off now.

Besides, they should be doing material from "In the Spirit of Things" anyway, something Steinhardt wasn't involved in.
