Being a fan of Fantasy novels, this had my attention. Terry Brooks series about the Elfstones, Wishsong...etc. has always been a favorite of mine. So when I saw that it was getting the TV treatment, needless to say, I was thrilled. Then I saw it was going to be on MTV. 'MTV!!' I said...remember when they played nothing but videos?

It's a loose adaptation, overseen by Brooks himself...not sure i like that.

As an aside, I'd much rather see an adaptation of Raymond Feist's RIFTWAR SAGA.

The TV treatment of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth book series, Legend of the Seeker, met an early cancellation. We'll see how this does.

The problem now is everything's going to be compared to Game of Thrones. The production on that show is Top Notch. Shannara looks closer to 'Once Upon A Time' than GoT.

By the way, the completely skip The Sword of Shannara storyline and start with Elfstones.

Yeah, I mentioned this in the DC thread because they feel, correctly, that TSoS is too much of a Tolkien pastiche i.e. rip. I'd say f-it and start with it, anyway, but they didn't ask me.
