Neil Donell - Cetera Replacement #3

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Tue Aug 13, 2019 12:10 am

Chicago, like Journey, has been placed in the unenviable position of replacing a legend. To do Peter's songs they had Scheff, Coffey, and now they have Neil Donell. I'm not a huge Chicago guy, but Donell has a kickass voice. Damn. I'd love to hear him sing some Journey. Huge range on this guy.

He is Fantastic. Perfect guy for them. Watched the Chicago doc. on Netflix, interesting stories
there. They got a winner with this talented Vocalist.

Sounds good. I saw Coffey play with the band. I thought he did a really good job too. Sort of reminded me of Augeri -- sounded enough like Cetera while doing his own thing (with due respect to the material).

Scheff was definitely starting to sound tired and a change was needed. Coffey seemed like a great fit to me. Not sure what the hell happened. Donell imo sings circles around both.

If you go by Jeff's Facebook page, he truly just decided the manic touring life was not for him. I think he's a family man. Pretty admirable if so, because I have to imagine that was a pretty good paycheck for him.

I'd have to hear Neil in the flesh to compare him to Jeff. I bought Jeff's solo albums after seeing him with Chicago. Not too shabby, at all.
