1977 the Start of great music...

1977 was the year I started collecting music. I was not buying anything at the time, I was still listening to music at my friends house, but now I was recording them. Bought a cheap tape recorder with a microphone. When I listened to something, I liked I would play it again and record. Sure it wasn't in Stereo, but I did not care.
ALBUMS
1. Styx - The Grand Illusion The greatest record of the year, decade, century! Heck the greatest record ever!! Everything a young guy needed, blazing guitars, soaring vocals, brilliant keyboards, and lyrics that spoke to you, about your life. Still speaks to me today.
2. Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell At the time I really had no idea what the album was about as a whole, but who cared, it rocked and was over the top.
3. Foreigner - Foreigner Straight ahead rock with a great vocalist.
4. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
5. Rush - A Farewell to Kings My favorite Rush album from the Geddy balls in a vice days.
6. Billy Joel - The Stranger
7. Sammy Hagar - Musical Chairs My favorite early Hagar albums
8. Rod Stewart - FootLoose And Fancy Free
9. Kansas - Point of No Return
10. ELO - Out Of The Blue

LIVE ALBUM
1. REO Speedwagon - Live, You Get What You Play For A great live album, that got me hooked on REO, before they became huge. Put all their studio recordings, up to that time, to shame.

GREATEST HITS/BEST OF
1. Joe Cocker-Greatest Hits First Joe COcker album I listened to. Only one any of my friends or siblings had. Would be a couple decades later before I bought anything earlier than this.

SINGLES
1. Come Sail Away - Styx The song that showed rock music was more about just being loud. So many twist and turns in this song, and so much more than any music I had been listening too before
2. Dust In The WInd - Kansas Love the guitar in this song
3. Your In My Heart - Rod Stewart
4. I Was Only Joking - Rod Sewart
5. Closer To The Heart - Heart
6. Fooling Yourself - Styx Acoustic guitar, synthesizers, thoughtful lyrics and high harmony vocals.
7. Hot Legs - Rod Stewart
8. The Stranger - Billy Joel
9. Sweet Talkin Woman - ELO
10. Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel

SONGS (Non singles)
1. Castle Walls - Styx
2. Man in the Wilderness - Styx
3. Turn Up The Music - Sammy Hagar
4. Cygnus X-1 - Rush
5. Reckless - Sammy Hagar

Great album but Out of the Blue from ELO is just fantastic. So many cords, and depth to the songs its just amazing. Grand Illusion is up there also. Great year in music!!!
