On top of that, Firehouse beat out Nirvana for the "best new band" emmy during the early 90's. And guess who is still around today?

Can't wait to get ahold of a copy of the new Firehouse cd "Prime Time".

Currently, my album of the week goes to Robin Beck "Trouble Or Nothin'". I got a cd-r copy in a trade, and it is excellent radio-friendly hard rock. Coca-cola promoted her single, but if you ask for my opinion, the single "First Time" is the weakest track on the album. It's a decent ballad, but the other rock tracks are better.

My album of the week is... 'Tribute to Van Halen 2000'. Its got everything, from the superb 'Unchained' played by Jack Russell,Dweezil Zappa,Marco Mendoza & Eric Singer too the terrible 'Pretty Woman' by the Nelson brothers with Albert Lee, Tony Levin & Aynsley Dunbar. :roll:

ok.....I'll admit it Fire house are not really glam.....more like good ol long haired late 80's american rock. I had Hold Your Fire and the first one on tape many years ago. At the time i thought they were cool.....i even had the Firehouse live VHS.......they were kind of a bunch of tools :lol:

I want that Hooba cd Sarge.......i'll see if they have it at one of the better cd shops in Canberra on my travels today

Another Tribute album for me this week. This time 'Tribute to Boston'. I will never understand why Steve Overland of FM never made it BIG. He must possess one of the best voices in the world. He certainly sings perfect on 'Long time' then on 'Amanda' he is like an angel :!:

This week, it goes to Shiva "S/T"

If you still haven't bought this album yet, you should. Even complete haters of female-fronted rock have found a reason to like this album. A must for any collection.

Shiva's new album is due in January. It will be interesting to know how Shiva will have any heaping hell at topping their debut.

My AOTW is Allan Holdsworth-All Night Wrong. It came out about a year ago and they finally got a copy at the cd shop. Its awesome. You wouldn't know it was live if it wasn't for the clapping at the end of each song. Jimmy Johnson and Chad Wackerman are top shit as well. I will say it once more if i have infact said it before.....Allan Holdsworth is the most amazing guitarist ever!!! :shock:

This week my AOTW is Warren Zevon's last album "The Wind". He made this album as he was dying of lung cancer and it shows as he struggles to finish some vocal lines as he runs out of breath. This album is as good as anything he's ever made.

Tali, the Holdsworth album has probably been doctored.

My album this week is Pretty Maids - First Cuts and Then Some. It has a couple of rockin' Christmas songs. And there's a picture of Santa on the covering sleeve.

My AOTW is Stone Temple Pilots - Thank you. The bonus DVD has over 3 hours of content including music videos, live footage and bootleg stuff so well worth changing the damn region settings on the PC as it's only as US release with that little extra.

This week it's Dream Theater - Train of Thought. The best thing they've done since Awake in my opinion. They've stopped wanking so much and wrote some heavy songs.

After I bought the thing it didn't leave my player for like 2 weeks straight. A lot of people are bitching about the album on the DT boards. The main complaint is its not Images & Words. I love the heaviness and aggressiveness of the songs.

Entering the new year, my album of the week will go to Savannah "Forever's Come and Gone."

However, it won't be the original album. I never liked the album because the songs don't flow into each other. I have rearranged the track order on a cd-r, and now it sounds a lot better than it did before, almost similar to their first album.

If you have the album and you want to hear the rearranged version, burn a copy with the track order I've listed on the melrock classics board:

My aotw is Neal Morse - Testimony. Brilliant is the only word to describe this one. Some may think the lyrics a bit too 'religious' but to me it is just a man telling the story of his spiritual journey. This one is straight from the heart of a great songwriter.

My AOTW is new cd by Cornerstone. Once again Doogie White has released awesome cd. There a lot of Rainbow meets DT . The dueling between the keyboardist and the guitarist, reminds me Purple.
