$90 is fairly reasonable isn't it? I happily paid $60 back in 1998......

TICKETS

Postby NUBMAN » Sat Apr 17, 2004 5:09 am

I think that the price of tickets these days is nuts. Not to compare, but I saw Dream Theater last month for $34 (row 7). The Eagles messed everything up a few years back when they soaked everybody. That set a precedent. Since then, managers, promoters and ticketbastard are pushing it even further.
Like someone said in another post, I will see one or 2 shows a year. I will have to skip some acts and pick out the special shows.

By contrast, I remember paying like $15 back in the early 80's to see Rush.

Part of the reason of the high ticket prices is there is a market for those tickets. If people are willing to pay the high ticket prices they will be sold. Just like sporting events, people are willing to pay big bucks to attend. But then again, I go to more sporting events than concerts but then again I'm a season ticket holder for the Seattle Seahawks and I go to about 16 Seattle Mariners games.

Yep, the ticket prices are defined by what people are willing to pay.

Look at Kiss.

If it wasn't for their blindly loyal fans they would have been dead in the water years ago.

But they have a core of fan who will pay whatever it takes to see their heroes, and they rely on that.
Well, they exploit that.
