Wow, I am speechless. You really prefer TBF and ROR over ESC4P3 and Frontiers? Wow. I notice you don't even rank Arrival.

I really prefer the soulful quality of Steve's voice on the later works over the earlier stuff. Escape has all of their greatest hits on it, except for Faithfully and Separate Ways of Frontiers. Infinity was their breakthrough album with Wheel and Lights, not to mention the fabulous sound of Winds of March. Evolution has LTS and a couple other great tunes. Some of the songs on Departure have a good bluesy sound. The compilations have the best of the best. That's pretty much how I came up with my rankings.

You shouldn't be speechles.
Over time you'll begin to note that Perryloons....errr..sorry..better make that Perry-pod-people...errr...no..I mean, Perryzealots....still too derogative...better change that to Perryheads....ah damnit,....
Over time you'll note that the hardcore Perryfans seems to have a strong affinity for ROR. I am not one for sweeping generalizations or umbrella statements however, I have yet to encounter one that did not have ROR in their top 3 JRNY records.

I actually would rate it as one of my top 3 albums from the band too. Just love it :)

I know you do.
There are maybe 4 good songs on it tops. The rest sounds like the musical precursor to FTLOSM. Pensive, reflective, introspective and most certainly not rocking, ROR is the nadir of the entire Journey cannon.
If ROR came out today it would get ripped even harder than Generations. There is just so little worthwhile on it.

TNC, I agree with you about ROR, but I think people who really dig it would be offended with the way you state your opinion as fact. I can see how some people with softer taste in music would like it more than other Journey albums.

I'm a huge current JRNY head and I still cannot dislodge ROR as my favorite. It's because of the lesser lights like Postive Touch, It Could Have Been You, Once You Love Somebody. Plus I'll Be Alright, Suzanne and Girl Can't Help It and Be Good are all super. My only throwaways are Happy To Give, title track and Why Can't This night?
Generations will push it.

Busy week, hope I'm not to late to post my favorite cds by JRNY
1)Greatest Hits A+ (Favorite Journey cd All the big ones are here.)

2)Escape A+ (Best cd by group. Not one bad song on cd. Still They Ride still gives me chills. Best produced cd too. Hard to believe what one new member can do, Perry made stars, but Cain made them superstars!)

3) Generations A (the cd I have waiting for since Frontiers!!!! Not a bad song on cd. Ross song does take away from flow of cd, but song is still good! Production is almost as good as early 80's cds.)

4) Frontiers A- (This cd ROCKS, even the slow ones, couple songs are not up to par, and keep this from being better than Escape)

5) Arrrival B+ (Augeri does a very good job filling big shoes! 2 or 3 songs don't quite connect, but a good cd. Great production)

6)Rasied on Radio B+ (Great Perry solo cd A. Okay Journey cd B- Great sounding cd. Some songs little too wimpy)

7) Captured B+ (Great live cd! All songs come off better than studio parts. Dixie Highway is a downer thou.)

8) Evolution B+ (New drummer, Smith adds alot to the songs, they become tighter. Production isn't as over board. Sound is clean and thsi is my favorite cd in the Rolie era.)

9)Time3 B+ (Great 3 cd set, little too much live for me,a nd not enough unreleased songs)

10)Infintiy B (What a difference one man can make. Perry is awesome. Production is very 70. Hurts it a little. But the sound is big!)

11) Departure B (Couple of bad songs keep this from being better than Ev. Sound is leaner to, production not as good as Ev but better than Inf.)

12) Live B (Good to here Cain songs live, Awesome Still they Ride. Cd use to one of my favorite live cds, but over years gone down list)

13) Trail By Fire B- (Starts off good, but after #4 starts going down hill fast. Cut about 4 songs, cd would have been better. Not the comeback cd they needed)

14) Red 13 B- (Like all the songs, Nothing outstanding, but all good. Production about kills this cd. Poor sounding)

15) Journey C+ (Hard to believe that this would become the Journey we all would love to listen, and argue to. Like the 2 guitarist on this cd.)

16) Look Into the Future C- (Down to just Neal on axe, but it's Neal, so it really doesn't matter, no one can touch him.)

17)Dream After Dream C- (Yuck!!! Perry Keeps it from being worse than Next)

18) Next D+ (Worst Journey cd out there.)
