Andrew didn't threaten you with a ban, he simply stated you may be better off at another forum. Andrew has a very slow fuse when it comes to banning people in his forums and gives ample warnings. He has more important work on his plate than banning people!Soledad? wrote:Why is it so wrong to state my opinion, however negative it may be? I don't understand, and think that's discriminatory. Please explain.

I concur. Jam in your garage for fun, boys. Give us concertgoers what we want to hear: Classic tunes and, if worthy, a few select songs off your new album.

Well, first off, that wasa response from another concert-goer. Therefore, it has merit describing an audience member's concert experience. Second, Journey DOES a Santana-thing in concert. After Neal plays Voodoo Child he segues into Gypsy Queen by Santana.

Yes they do. But what does that accomplish? They are in a way admitting fault, and not being responsible. If this is a reflection of management, then Journey has serious problems, and will never be a force again. What the hell is cj trying to do? She looks like Scott mcClellan defending Karl Rove. I really don't think Journey tried to screw the town, and it was either a misunderstanding or on the verge of violence with the fans...yet they want to keep it all smiles and flowers..geez....
28, I don't know about you, but I post over at BT very very rarely. I just wrote a very concise argument, and cj basically told me to go back to MR, and beat up Irving some more..I tell you, the truth really lacks over there. Neal can't like that. I will post my statement. I am sure they hate the fact that Neal swears..hey BT should get a grip..life is not all rosie.
28, here is my statement..I am sure she will delete it..![]()

I am sorry for delving back into this, but I don't moderate the board, so my voice doesn't count, but I really believe that backing away from this is wrong. We need to resolve this, and not just let it blow over. Obviously, there is a very complex story to be told, and what happened the night in Sioux Falls needs to be investigated. Journey fans: I know you love the band unequivocally, as do I. I know some have traveled near and far, as I have. Last year, I went to 28 concerts. I am not bragging, but saying that Journey are not perfect. To defend them first without knowing all that transpired is not right. Something happened, and for the good of the situation(Journey, the fans and the city), there NEEDS to be an explanation. The way I see it so far, the Fair relased a statement..Journey has not, except for CJ's comment about Fairs having 90 mins. Ok, I went to Paso Robles, CA show, and was disappointed in the 90 mins set, (because I wanted a 10 hour show),but I understood, and the Band made it very clear as did the venue, that it was to 90 mins. No problem. By the way, wasn't that awesome? I really feel it is ok to question a certain entity if something is not right. it seems to me that Journey management is not communicating very effectively. For instance, the advertising generally throughout the cities on tour and newspapers precluding the tour all said, "An Evening with Journey." Generally, all write ups said a 3.5 hour show and a free cd will be given to fans on this tour. Neal had said it on many radio interviews. Now I know Neal cannot be in charge of everything, but Journey PR and Mgt. can and should be.
My opinion is Journey management should in fact make it clear to the residents and fans of Sioux Empire what happened. I know Journey has a very good reputation Live, and with interaction amongst fans, so I really can't see them saying, "Oh we have an option? After 90 mins, let's get the H*ll outta here!" That isn't their style, and I have never seen Journey depart via police escort. Which leads me to think there was a whole lot more going on than perhaps Radio Goddess might know. She may, or should know the fairs' alcohol policy. If a fair is selling beer(that's good), but if you are selling beer in bottles, or cans, that is completely foolish...I know South Dakota is the wild wild west, but come on? A full beer can, thrown by a hammered fan/p.oed fan, has a very accurate projectile. A cup of beer isn't going anywhere.. Radio Goddess, if your policy isn't can or bottle, I apologize.
So what I am saying is, Journey just might be at fault here. I can hear your collective fists clenching, and air letting out of your mouths, but no band is perfect. You all have to admit, that communication has been spotty at best this tour, and IMO, needs a better PR effort. Last time I checked Radio Goddess, S.D. was part of the United States, and I have read some comments about your natives stating Journey thought less of South Dakotans because of where you live. I know this to be untrue. That argument is weak. However, if I were Journey management, I would take out an newpaper ad, explaining the miscommunication to SE citizens..It would go along way in the court of fan opinion. It would echo Journey's class.
Journey fans, I respect your passion, and your love of the band, but to "blindly" defend the band when not being there is juvenile at best. All I am trying to say is Journey does make mistakes, and it is ok to acknowledge them when they do. it does not take away the love and admiration you have for the band. I am sure I will be prosecuted and reprimanded too Radio Goddess; this is a very tight group of people her, but they really are a good caring bunch..Very generous people who really go out of their way to help one another, but I do think many defended first, and found facts last...The police escort really has me double-thinking this whole thing..They had 35 hours to get to Detroit, so expedition for the trip east doesn't make sense. As for the Rush comment, maybe Neal is just referencing that as a way to describe what other bands played that type of music, and as a way of describing the music scene at the time. If he is doing it to put down Rush, then that too is wrong. Rush are a very sound, proud band, and don't deserve that...Perhaps we can get Schon to comment on that?
Sorry for the rambling. Radio Goddess, can you email at derbydeano@yahoo.com? There is something off board I would like to talk to you about.
Sorry for the ramble folks. I am as big a Journey fan as anyone, and hope you all don't hate me now too.

Just out of curiousity, I checked how many times I have posted there in the past month....only four times, including the one where JSS went bonkers and the thread was closed/deleted.
BT is very meaningless, unless you want to praise Journey in the way Perry fans praise Perry. If you are Journey's version of OhSherry or HOTS, then that forum is for you. If there is any type of moderation within you, and you can see good and bad, then stay away from BT...Or, you can post there and censure your 'bad' side, or be banned.
And, with CJ running the show there, I think it is going to get worse, not better. ..just my opinion.

I don't think she's running the show either.
But you don't really care about Journey anymore anyway Monker, so it doesn't matter about BT at all to you.

You are a smart dude..Why don't you offer up some kind of plan..at least I tried, and I'm half as knowledgeable as you or NC....of course LAWoman tore it down really quick![]()
I would love to see your plan for Journey.. Forget about Styx and those other bands..Journey are so much better, and should be treated by management as such.
Instead of doing the easy thing, criticizing, write something..I would love to hear it.

I've done this before. It really seems a bit futile.
The first thing I would say is to scrap the very thought of rerecording or remastering Generations for the US. Why should somebody like me even think about buying the CD *NOW* when the talk is to do some rerecording and even some new songs for a US release?
Since it seems the band (or at least Neal) has given up on keeping songs from P2P services, I say stick them on the website for download for a $.50 fee each.
I would say this year is gone and over...whatever plans have been made have to be followed thru on...So, really, there is nothing that can change until next summer, if they tour (Neal did say he's ready for a break).
So, again, when they schedule the next tour, I think they should take the first date and publicly make it a big deal. Make it VERY public that they are going to video the show and release it on DVD. Make it very public that they are going to perform never before recorded songs...the songs that were to be on the US Generations. I think they should wrap the concert around the idea of the DVD...Completely fill the DVD but do not perform so many songs that some have to be cut (NOT a 3hr show...two hrs at most). I think they should scrap most, if not all, of the pre-Perry songs. I think they should scrap the Hendrix and Santana stuff. At least 1/3 of the songs should be from the Augeri era...including the new songs.
Then, they tour. At the end of the tour, release the DVD. Hit the studio and record a new CD that includes those songs and seven other new ones. Release that CD and tour behind it the following summer/fall/winter.
I think they should stop emphasizing festivals and fairs...they have done that often enough. I think they should look at outdoor amphi-theaters in the summer and indoor theaters in the fall/winter. Sure, they are smaller, but they could schedule multiple nights.
Do I think anything even REMOTELY close to this will happen? Nope.
