Why don't we ever hear the truth on the Journey website? Why is it we only hear cheerleading, and "it's all about the music" on the Journey website..THis is what I am talking about...Why does everyone at BT and some here, think I am needlessly bashing the band? I am trying to get them(Mgt), to pull their heads out of their ass, and put "the music" on radio!!! Christ!

They are?
You sure about that?
Better double check ur facts.
Half of the material on the EP was initially slated to go on Arrival.
Those songs are Journey material and can go on whatever the band deems fit.Rock'ndeano wrote:Those songs won't flow with Generations!
Why not?
With the exception of SOG (due to it's intro), I can see all the other tracks fitting just fine on Generations. Even with the intro, they can still make SOG fit, just remove the intro like they did when they would play it live on tour mid-set.Rock'ndeano wrote:Adding Red13 to Generations! Yes! Well, Red 13 WAS an EP, afterall.
If I'm not mistaken (and I'm not) most EPs do get aggrandized or inflated into a full album at some point. Frankly, I was rather suprised when it was first announced that none of RED 13 was to be on Generations.Rock'ndeano wrote:Give me a break. And pray, do tell, just what exactly does Azoff Mgt. have to do with putting Red 13 on Generations?
Rock'ndeano wrote:
Red13 was Red13. I don't care if they were holdovers or not..that album is done..well, I thought it was.
Rock'ndeano wrote:I think Red13 was rushed and raw in one of the guys' basement. Why would you want to add it on the Gens?
Rock'ndeano wrote:And TNC, you are up front as always, bitching about the LENGTH of Arrival..now you want Gens to be 16 songs? Ok.
Rock'ndeano wrote:And if you people don't think a manager has a "thought process" or a "guiding hand for the band," if you will.. You don'y think the Manager is supposed to "plan a route to the top, like Herbie Herbert once said, and did?

Just listen to Generations, IF that doesn't blow your socks off and make you wnat to have them at your label, NOTHING will-ERIC

ABSOLUTELY!
I remember the Arrival Tour. Journey did not play Open Arms at Red Rocks. I was SO HAPPY! But I heard a LOT of fans saying "I can't believe they didn't play Open Arms" Back then the fans were having to digest the fact that Perry was not there. Add to that the fact that Steve was not at his best yet...then drop Open Arms, that is a LOT for a casual fan to handle.
But Open Arms' time has come and gone IMO. Drop it!
I hope next year, the setlist refines to be the core hits (but that will have to include Open Arms) and more Augeri-era materail. Time to start retiring some of this Perry material.
NoMoreTails wrote:I think Steve does OA very well now and it was important to show that he could. But I don't think Jon will agree to drop it, he seems elated at the audience reaction when the song starts.
I agree about retiring some of that material and adding more of the new, but I think Jon will nix this idea if he feels that audience is less than enthused. He seems more concerned about the audience reaction in his interview than Neal did in his. I don't seem people actually walking out as he put it, they may have been going to the rest room or to get another beer.

Andrew wrote:I'll go on the record here - while the US release looks tasty to buyers (as is the point) - it is POOR FORM!
The European and Japanese labels were given bonus track to help their sales and help them recoup investment, but now a meare 5 weeks later, both tracks are made available easier and cheaper.
Not impressed with this decision.

From the front page:
CONFIRMATION OF JOURNEY'S AMERICAN ALBUM RELEASE:
I can confirm that Journey have signed to Sanctuary Records for a US release of their new album Generations. The album will be released October 4 and will feature the same track listing as the Japanese release. That's good news for fans hanging out to hear the Deen Castronovo sung It's Never Too Late and the additional Jonathan Cain sung track Pride Of The Family. However, this is not so good news for those that have pre-ordered the ultra expensive Japanese import already. An official press release is due out tomorrow.
The track listing and running order for Generations USA is: Faith In The Heartland . The Place In Your Heart . A Better Life . Every Generation . Butterfly (She Flies Alone) . Believe . Knowing That You Love Me . Out Of Harms Way . In Self-Defense . Better Together . Gone Crazy . Beyond The Clouds . The Pride Of The Family . It's Never Too Late.
