Without any knowledge of past events, one might wonder why Perry isn't in the band today. :?

I think it is because Perry just chooses not to. Since he is not producing solo music and touring, it seems that he just isn't into that lifestyle anymore. Not everyone can keep living out of a suitcase forever!

I would NOT buy into any conspiracy theory either, since it CLEARLY stated this was done with the "full cooperation of the band".

Futhermore, I think "this thread" just stirs things up for no reason at all.

It is a WIN for ALL Journey fans because we fans all get the MUSIC we love, from whatever line up of Journey we love!!! :D :D :D

I think, at this point in his life, you may be exactly right NMT.

Have any of you considered that maybe the band and/or their management may see the releasing of this DVD at this time as being of benefit to them? I not suggesting that that's the case, just throwing out the possibility.

It's OK now Jetster, we're back on track.

Journey could have used the DVD promo to their advantage, but I don't see where they did. All in all...it hurt I think, I mean...that is TOUGH competition.

Surely you jest, Nig.

The timing is a toss up. The band might have planned to get Generation's out at the same time as the DVD to get reflected glory. The DVD has been promised to us , at this time, for awhile now.

Good point HOTS. I hadn't thought of that. They did say quite some time ago that it should be out in time for Christmas. I really think the band's management must have thought they would benefit from this. They made a point to say it was put together with the full cooperation of the band. Would have cooperated with a plan that was going to hurt them?

It's an interesting question. I could definitely see it where Sony is saying, "hey put out your new album with your current lineup and we'll out do you guys by putting something out that is new and classic by the classic lineup AND we'll out sell you!" Certainly it's a good investment for Perry.....any of us would do the samething!

I do think, however, any exposer this band gets can't hurt them one bit. Maybe if this dvd was released around the time the Walk of Fame star was unveiled, it might would have sparked more interested and helped records sales for Generations.

As it stands now....alot of Journey's wealth is going to come by word of mouth....handing out free CDs at the concerts was definitely brilliant!

Ideally, Journey should have had a new CD out near the WOF ceremony. THAT would have been huge.

We'll see just how well Generations does over the next couple of months, Deano...I think it's too soon to tell, although it ain't looking too good initially, at least here in the states. Who knows, maybe it could end up being the surprise of the year?? We still have the holiday shopping season ahead of us.....
