If it was the Roanoke, VA show, Perry was the one who had to cancel and they blamed Jon. Don't ask where I heard this, I couldn't say, though the insider is no long affiliated with the band.

O shit, here we go..Hang on...

That is too bad. Perry was a hell of a showman on stage...almost on par with Jagger...though we do know Perry's voice blows Jagger away!!!!

I agree!! I have seen Mick Jagger, and he's disgusting.

NoMoreTails - It was the Roanoke show. All I know is what they said on the local tv news and newspaper out of Roanoke. It's all water under the bridge now.

Yes, I was about an hour from Roanoke when I heard the announcement on the radio.
I think it would have been the same venue where we saw Bad English and Whitesnake a few years later. Hanging out around back we saw the band arriving at the venue. When they got off the bus, John Waite looked as if he was astonished when my girlfriend ignored him while yelling at Neal and Jon, as Waite was close to her and noticed her with a camera. Apparently he tought he was the star.
With the things that have gone down with Perry and Journey, and feeling that Perry was responsible for most of it imo, based on all we have heard, I have to say I do recall an interview where Jonathan said that Perry never pulled the crap on them that John Waite did. As you have said, we don't know what reasons people may have for what they say in interviews, etc or what is really going on, this could have been from an interview around the time of TBF, I don't remember. But I thought it was an interesting statement, and would like to know more about what went on besides the control issue with writing Backlash. Please excuse me for getting way off topic.

I remember the interview where Jon said that stuff about Waite. I was glad he said it because I never could stand Waite.

I live a little over an hour from Roanoke and sat on my bed and cried when they cancelled that show. They showed scenes from, I believe it was the Richmond show, maybe, on the news that night and I cried some more.

OK, I know, I'm OT too. But now we can look forward to the possibility of an ROR DVD. :D

We had driven two hours of a three hour trip.
Remember Neal and Jon on MTV probably sometime in 1987 by the Golden Gate Bridge, (probably where the Generations photo was taken) talking about trying to get Perry off his motorcycle and back in the studio for another album? I kept hoping till news of Bad English was released.

Wow Jrnyman, I just presumed you had seen Steve Perry with Journey in concert. I'm not bragging here, but I saw Perry with Journey 3 times. Perry is absolutely amazing in concert!!!

I think I saw that interview too, or one very much like it. I thought it was on Bluejeans network though, if I'm not mistaken I have it on VHS somewhere.
