Spin that one, Deano.
I'm hoping that some telephone rings somewhere soon and somebody answers that phone. In a perfect world, The caller will say, "Dave? Ed. Feel like flying out to LA for a few days? Got something I wanna run by ya. Leave your lawyer home, i won't have mine."

This is true for a number of reasons. First of all, he promoted the hell out of going to satellite, but once he was there...now what? The tv shows and news programs are only going to be able to promote him so much for so long. Satellite is still out of the mainstream. Plus now he CAN do controversial stuff....so what? It's like finally letting a kid do whatever he wants after telling him NO for so long. Where is the fun in it now? The point of that was to raise hairs. Since he CAN do whatever he wants, it's not news anymore, so he's not in the limelight. He would have been better off staying in terrestial radio and paying fines. There is no such thing as bad PR. It generated talk and listeners, but very few are going to *pay* to see "what Howard does next", because it's not controversial anymore.

13- How the Hell can you make a statement like you wouldn't pay a red cent to not see him, and rather listen to Roth? You never gave Stern a chance. Kind of like you getting on NIGGY for not giving SoulSirkus a spin and commenting negatively on it. Sound familiar?
NIG. He hasn't fallen off the face of the earth. There is a reason Sirius made him the highest paid entertainer ever. Subscriptions are up, and rising. XM is hurting. He needs at least a year to measure his success against Free FM radio.
Angie- He needs a benchmark. We have nothing to gauge his Sirius vs terrestrial gains on. He KNEW he would have memberships but by 70%. So what? He has accomplished everything. Stern didn't need PR like Journey/Styx or any other band. he lived it all. He has made a billion dollars. Maybe he wanted to go to work and do a job he liked to do...rather than go put up with the Bush tyranny? You argument doesn't make sense. He left for the money and the freedom. 500 million for 5 years and 200,000 shares of stock. You wouldn't go for that? The fact that Mark and Brian, and any other morning personalities are trying to figure out a way to grab his opened slot is a testament.
Please, if you don't like the man and his show, I can respect that. But don't spin and hate for no reason. That is lame.
NealIsGod wrote:I think Stern should have an uncensored TV show once a week, too. Highlights fomr the previous week's shows. That may get more people to "pony up the dough" for satellite. Call HBO, Dean. Make it happen.
Rockn'deano wrote:I think he went to Satellite, because he believes satellite is the future. It's simple supply and demand. If enough people eventually go over, it will be cheaper.
